Guys, we have to be realistic here. Kenny has a very hard job to do and it takes alot of patience, knowledge and due dilgence to improve this hockey team. All 29 other teams are trying to improve themselves so Kenny has alot of competition. Here is a roster I think is very realistic for next season. One which I feel Kenny can achieve if things go his way this summer...

I really don't know why we should consider trading Flip... He's the Pavel/Henrik hybrid.

As far as I remember (I could be wrong) Flip was great on Dats line (Dat's is the man)

*Parise* - Dats - Flip

Franzen - Zetterberg - Nyquist

Cleary - Helm - Bert (Brunner)

*Prust/Moen* - Abdelkader - Eaves/Miller

Exactly. I don't see us trading Filp at all. We've waited this long to produce how we knew he could, not just to trade him. He also sits next to Z in the locker room, indicating that he's going to have an A and will likely be the next C for a few years after Z's done unless someone more fitting comes along. I like Filp and he played great last season and we need him to continue right where he left off next season.

Guest Hatethedrake!

i live in NC now and hockey fans down here are shocked, SHOCKED when i tell them that there are those of us who don't like franzen.

They likely remember the playoff hero Franzen who scored goals at will in the Colorado series in 2008. They don't see the lazy floating Franzen who shows up about once every 2 weeks. That being said, he is still our best goal scorer. Imagine how many goals he would score if he showed up each game and gave a crap.

Franzen for Blake Wheeler + prospect/pick?

Jets already have Antrofloat so Franzen would just be overkill, and Wheeler is loved in Winnipeg. It would take an act of god to get Wheeler to the Wings, but he would get a kickass nick name of Winged Wheeler if he came to the Wings. And no way the Jets are giving up Wheeler and a pick/prospect for Franzen. Wheeler is gonna top 70 points this coming season if he can get another linemate with some high end skill and finish when he dangles through the opposing team and dishes it to a wide open guy for an easy goal.

I like that idea.... but who would it cost us? I'm not sure we have the pieces to offer anything comparable.

a lot... i don't think its happening without smith unless fil AND franzen+ go back. Rather go Schultz and Suter. Then pick up some more talent next offseason.

"I take things personally," Ryan said. "Anaheim to me has been a team over the past year that really has shown me nothing to prove that they want me here, unfortunately. Obviously, it's not the ideal situation. When you get drafted, you want to win championships with that team and every time they look to add a piece to the puzzle, I'm the piece going the other way.

"I gotta be honest with you. At this point, I don't care. Move me … because it's just tough going to the rink every day knowing that if something goes wrong, you're going to be the guy moved."

From USA Today.

Now knowing that the Ducks pretty much have to trade Ryan, maybe the asking price could go down slightly? We can hope.

I feel bad for Bobby Ryan. He's a 30 goal per year guy and that's the treatment he gets from the Ducks' organization... It's not like he's Franzen and floats his way to 30 goals cause he's bored and has the ability to get over 40. Ryan's compete level is higher and hopefully he goes to a team that actually wants him.
