SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 Bobrovsky is a solid tender who had a bad season... I think this is a solid move for Columbus. Will it put them over the edge and help them compete when the playoffs come around, well that is yet to be determined. They didn't overpay, in my opinion and I can I see there being a Nash trade in the works as well. Probably something involving Read and JVR. In the end, Columbus just upgraded their goaltending. Autika 34 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 I'm interested to see how the rest of this plays out. Seemed like a head-scratcher at first, but upon further pondering, what could it really hurt?
Hey man nice shot! 144 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 Makes you wonder what this means for Mason... He needs a change of scenery, but who doesn't in columbus... Oh he said it!
dirtydangles 1,328 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 (edited) the flyers have so much young talent and valuable assets such as picks it drives me nuts. So jealous. Expect them to move up in the draft using JVR or their first, 2nd, cbj 2nd to get a top 10 pick. fml. another couturier to add to the stable. I wish we had the assets to move up that easily. kylee 727 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 Mason is gone. But he needs to be. So far, he's only been a flash in a pan thus far

With the Flyers as my second favorite team after Detroit that is one thing I love about them. They got their core talent but have all those young guys just waiting to emerge; with Read and Couturier being the top two. I am right there with you though; I wish the Wings had some assets or some balls to move into the top ten and grab some of that high end talent! 2 MikeModano9 and CupCrazy22 reacted to this
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 I don't see how this fixes their goaltending issues at all. Bobrovsky struggled on a strong team, I see him being little better than Mason in Columbus.
Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 If anyone is interested, here's an article on a little bit of Bob's personal life. I found it interesting. You never know what goes on outside of the rinks so reading about players is always interesting! Anyways, here you it is: http://www.themaskbetweenthepipes.com/sergei-bobrovsky---personal.html

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 Seems like a ridiculous overpayment for an average goaltender. But maybe Howson's job is on the line and he had to look like he's doing something? I'm not going to trash Bobrovsky, but he's certainly not even close to elite and likely never will be. In the modern NHL it's just not necessary to build from the net out, and doing so usually just screws teams up nowadays.
AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 This is a strange move for both considering how leaky Bryzgalov was last year. Obviously that contract means he is not going anywhere....but....??? scratching head...is he really an upgrade for Columbus? wait for Luongo or Thomas to become available...? IllinoisRedWingsFan 49 Report post Posted June 23, 2012 (edited) Not a bad move for the Jackets that is. I do think they gave a little too much but still not bad. They need help on Defense though. Edited June 23, 2012 by IllinoisRedWingsFan
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 Wonder what happens to Mason. If I were the Jackets, I'd stick with Curtis Sanford as backup. He did a pretty respectable job last season considering the team in front of him.
