The Union is expected to announce later Thursday the approval of a $70.2 million salary cap for this offseason. With last years cap being $64.3 mill what will this mean for teams like Detroit and Pitt vying for the big free agents (Suter, Parise)?

If these figures hold up for the season it would go as followed:
"The offseason cap will have a lower limit of $54.2 million, an adjusted midpoint of $62.2 million and an upper limit of $70.2 million for the 2012-13 season, pursuant to collective bargaining agreement negotiations."
