Schultz already has 4 goals to go along with 2 helpers, in his first 4 games with the Barons. Interestingly, Nugent Hopkins only has 2 assists and Eberle only 1 goal in the first 4 games.
It's funny that one of Schultz's priorities was signing with a team that wouldn't send him to the minors

It's not exactly sending down to the minors when it's simply the only way hes going to play hockey in N/A. I believe he is also a +2. I haven't seen any footage of his gameplay, but heard it's pretty decent and he'll must likely run the powerplay with the oilers. I still will wait until he's performing against the best for me to pass judgement on him. Currently, he's just simply playing the same ol hockey he was used to.

Barons will be here next weekend (right after the Griffs) so I'm planning to go check out some NHL talent. They are going to RAAAAPE our AHL team.

CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending 21/10/2012. He'll be a great asset for Seattle.

Why? He wanted to play in Canada, Edmonton is providing Schultz with top minutes which will help his development in the long run.

Probably not. If Edmonton can ever get there s*** together they have the makings of a powerhouse.

He might be rethinking things. Edmonton has too many of the same type of soft players up front. Until that changes things wont change for the Oil.

I'm very glad that we have DeKeyser instead. Schultz flat out sucks defensively. He's like Brendan Smith, except he actually produces a lot of points.

And while DeKeyser will never have Schultz's offensive potential, I still think he can put up 30-40 points a season one day. Conversely, Schultz will never be confused for a shutdown type.

While I generally agree that more minutes on the ice equates to better development, I really think in Schultz's case (but moreso Edmonton's issue as a whole), the lack of a veteran presence will limit how good and how quickly Schultz can develop as a defenseman.

Without a doubt, Schultz would have developed far better under our system and our team's tutelage.

Just the losing culture of Edmonton is enough to depress any young prospect.

I can think of few things more depressing than playing hockey in Edmonton.
