I almost hate saying this out loud, but to me, it sounds like Suter is coming to Detroit. Holland has made 3 forward signings and hasn't even hinted at a Defensemen. He wouldn't of missed out on Dmen today if he didn't have a feeling Suter was going to sign here. Just sounds like Holland has all his ducks in a row and Suter is on his way here. We still have a ton of cap space even if we throw the bank and Suter, which tells me Holland isn't done upfront either. Keeping cap space incase Parise comes here too. If not, than we have a ton of forwards and cap space we can use to make a trade for a top 6 guy. Possibly a Bobby Ryan or even a Nash trade if the price isn't to steep. Holland has put himself in a situation that allows him infinite possibilities.

Honestly, this is the only thing that makes sense at this point. As for Sammy, he's a poor-man's Hudler plug to fill out the roster when the aforementioned trade goes down.

At 1st my thoughts were "typical Holland" - however as you've pointed out he may be looking for some respectable replacements for guys like Filppula/Franzen who may be "in play" as part of a trade; I'm thinking Ryan from Anaheim.

Personally I would've preferred Prust over Tootoo...That said - Tootoo does play a hard grinding game, and will create alot of havoc around the net which is something we've been lacking on a consistent basis.

Tootoo will be an instant fan favorite in Detroit; a big hit, or a scrap in his 1st game as a Red Wing will make many of us (myself included) forget about the fact that he was a Pred for so many years.
