For all the crap, Sammy did score goals. But most importantly: he shoots. This team seriously needs a shoot-first player, and Sammy is that. Sure, 90% of his shots go into the chest pad, but he does score a decent amount of goals.

And besides, it wouldn't be a Red Wings summer without resigning an old Wing.

He's not going to put us over the edge, but he's a suitable Hudler replacement and adds a shooting dynamic. That's where he fits on this team.

Yes 3m makes me cringe and the NTC drive me nuts but your completely correct we desperately need someone that doesn't pass the puck around for the entire power play. Sammy has a shoot first mentality that this team desperatly needs more of.

When I saw that he was a UFA yesterday, I had a funny feeling he'd find his way back. I don't mind this at all if it's cheap. He had a knack for coming up with some clutch goals for us when it counted most.

3M IS NOT CHEAP! What a F---ing joke.

why did we originally part with sammy again???

He parted with us.

He wanted more money and playing time. To his credit, he was pretty open about it.

This has to be a very VERY bad joke. There are a million other players I would have rather given a chance then to get this guy back. I'm annoyed already... I can see his retarded head fake that fools no-one. Sad sad day! Maybe it's time to trade Holland!!!!

I believe in the end its a simple, simple game; no different than my two youngest fightin in the living room; you draw a line in the sand, and you decide who wants the ball more. And that's what hockey's about. - Babblecock

Good to see the Wings signing those grittier, hungrier players that we don't currently have.

Nothing could be worse than Hudler on the point. At least Sammy has some speed to get back and negate shorthanded scoring chances.

I'm just looking for the positive angle here. It was tough.
