NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 2, 2012 It would've been so odd seeing him leave NJ considering he's done everything and more in his celebrated career. It's not like he needs to pull a Borque.

Exactly, why tarnish your reputation as a franchise hero just for a few more $, when you're already a multi-millionaire? Glad he made the right decision in the end. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted July 2, 2012 In the end, not really surprising. His agent was probably just stirring things up a bit showing NJ that Marty would have plenty of takers. Good to see he'll retire a devil.
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted July 2, 2012 I was kind of surprised about this. This doesn't plan for NJ's future very well, with Brodeur and Hedberg as your combination. I think sentimentality took over Lou. The only thing left on Brodeur's career since he's won everything is to use these next 2 years to bring a non-playoff team closer to Cup contender and mentor a younger goalie ... I was really hoping that we'd face him in the Winter Classic.
