See we got hudlers replacement for cheaper who I believe is a better all round player

I agree, but it comes with two big ifs. IF Samuelsson can stay healthy and IF he can match his production from three seasons ago. It's the last time in his career that he put up numbers similar to what Hudler did last season (he was close 6 years ago). So we got him cheaper but my hunch is the Wings probably lost some goalscoring in swapping Sammy for Huds. I hope he proves me wrong though.

And while he's not exactly gritty, but he's more of a pain in the ass to play against than Hudler was. Let's hope he stays healthy.

So long happy! Sammy for a million less doesn't look so bad, if he stays healthy.

haha ... good luck there Huds. Your new team will chase for 8th spot in Feb and by March, you can plan for April vacation.

Not that Hudler has shown up in April the past few seasons anyway...
"I can't believe I shook this guys frickin' hand. We lost and I'm pissed off. But to see Kris Draper's face makes me sick. I didn't see his face until after the game, but his face is turned sideways. If the league doesn't do something about that ... I mean that's ridiculous. He could have broken his fricken neck."

kinda similar jersy colors must be a major deciding factor for Huds. At least, I can't think of anything else...

A lot of hate here for someone who netted us 50 pts last season. Hopefully we don't take a bath on the Sammy signing.
The Vladinator He earned the NHL Plus/Minus Award in 1995-96, with a plus/minus difference of plus-60. The +60 has been the highest rating a player has finished with in the past 20 seasons, since Wayne Gretzky finished with a +70 in the 1986-87 NHL season

It's rare that I'm glad to see a Red Wing leave, but this makes me so happy.

Hudler would only be 32 then. He'd have to let him age a few more years before bringing him back. ;)

Flames really needed some goals, I guess this is good for them?

No worries about him putting up a career year in Calgary. They have actual good players who can't do that. See ya Huds.

you sure will once Sammy starts hitting everything around the goal, but not the goal itself.

$4M/yr is not a bad money for Huds. I'm glad Kenny didn't pay it.

Hopefully that right handed shot of his will pick up a couple extra goals and spread out the options.

works every time

Hudler's rate of production was very much aided by being on a line with Zetterberg and Filppula, both of whom are fast, hardworking, strong on the puck, excellent at passing, quite good at shooting, and very good defensively. They made up for Hudler's faults. He's a good passer and a good shooter, but not exceptional; he's slow; he's very weak on the puck; he's often lazy; and he's bad defensively.

I don't know if Calgary can find similar linemates for him.
