Don't like Carle, and while it would be nice to have cap room next year, there are other ways of doing that (signing/trading for one year deals, etc) other than taking our ball and going home.

Yeah but what about actually seeing what kind of talent we already have. Seeing what works for the future instead of signing some guys as plan b that might be a waste of money.

I fear that I brought this thread into existence with my baseless prediction in another thread that Holland gets Semin and Carle instead of Parise and Suter.
Honestly - this being dragged out - I'm losing interest in both; will either player live up to the salary, or the expectations?..Me thinks not, and by dragging this out by both of them only makes me think that they're not worth it, and Holland should pursue "plan B" - as in sign Carle, and either trade for Ryan , or sign Semin for a few years.
EDIT - in a weird way this is reminding me of last season with "Wiz".

What makes you think we'd get out of the first round?

What makes you think this line up would make the playoffs? That lineup is worse than last season.
What makes you think we'd get out of the first round?
Regressed badly in defense with only a minor upgrade in offense? There is no way with that defense Detroit goes very far, and saying they may not even make the playoffs is not a stretch.

True story, unfortunately.

I agree about Helm,he belongs on the third line.I also believe it would really great if they could win the cup without the big free agents you'all say they need. Also I like Semin on Pav's line and I wonder if removed from Ovechkin's shadow if we wouldn't see a different Semin?I think Babs would be pissed at Helm not centering the 3rd line since he said last week that Helm is the best 3rd line centre in the game bar none. As for Semin and Carle...I would not be pissed. Would I see this team still being able to compete for the Cup? Maybe. Win it? Things would really have to go their way for that to happen.

1) Trade Filppula, Cleary, White, 1st for Yandle
2) Sign Semin, Mueller, Carle
Could hold us over until Weber becomes available next season.

This is the best I could salvage without Parise and Suter:

I don't want Carle, we will need to overpay big time to get him... What Detroit needs is Right Hand Def, with some size... what about Franson, he's still available for the right price.... another option is Yandle and at the worst case Markov...

Franson isn't better than Kindl. Having a RH dman isn't worth bringing poor dmen in. We could trade for Enstrom instead of Yandle but I think Yandle is all around better and younger.I don't want Carle, we will need to overpay big time to get him... i would suggest maybe even giving up the 4 1st round picks and like going crazy and throwing a 110 million 12 yr deal to weber and high signing bonus but why risk it that nashville matches and we lose the chance at him next year possibly
point is i hope we dont go crazy and overpay carle as tough as our situation is
maybe take a chance on overpayed boumweester?? at least its only 2 years and he does play 20-25 minutes a game
