Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

Darren Dreger via twitter: Shea Weber’s options after Ryan Suter signs: “1) accept Q.O at $7.5 mil. 2) wait for offer sheet. 3) sign longterm with Preds. 4) push for trade.”

They say he could force a trade (assuming to a cup contender) if suter signs somewhere that can't afford to sign weber the following year as well. Maybe we could pry webers RFA rights from the prednecks for some forwards or something if we miss out on suter / minny gets both and can't afford weber. Doubt the prednecks would want to lose him to nothing as his most likely option is to only sign one year and become a UFA next off season..

What boggles my mind is if this is purely a hockey decision it's Detroit -- no brainer there. The Wild ownership/coaching staff can talk up a storm but all the organization has been good at doing is treading water, losing prized free agents, etc... Outside of bluster, what have you proven?

Detroit has proven everything with a 20-year long track record. We have it in spades.

Even *with* Suter and Parise the roster looks like it'll struggle to even make the playoffs.

well, if Pit is out on Parise, then wouldn't that leave the Wings and the Wild as the only other real options?

Technically Chicago and the Devils would be still in on this... but since last night I mentioned on Twitter that all signs really started pointing toward a Wild/Wings showdown for a package deal. That seems to have gathered significant steam overnight.
