Flight is on its way back now: http://flightaware.c...e/flight/N559LC

If I were a betting man I'd say Suter's not on that plane whether or not we signed him... They'd announce the signing, but the presser wouldn't be until Thursday at the earliest. No rush on anything (presser-wise, anyway.)

A report says the plane registered to Mike Ilitch's Olympia Aviation LLC did not leave with Ryan Suter. Read into that what you will.

From twitter user @RobbVogel

A purported picture of the Wings' brass boarding the plane in Madison and heading back to Detroit. No Suter according to that -- but that's not surprising. Don't need him in Detroit to sign a document if it gets to that point, and a potential presser would wait until after the holiday.

Agreed. They don't need to physically take him back to Detroit. Especially right before the 4th of July.

Hmm, the plot thickens...

Nice detective work from Chris Hollis (@chollis) of The Production Line with this Flickr find:

The photo at that link shows a plane with the right tail# and matching paint scheme from the photo taken in Madison within the last hour.

Helene St. James: #RedWings initial offer to Ryan Suter was $80 M, 13 years, now up to $90 M. Team wants to keep cap # reasonable - preferably under $7 M

Oh, yeah. That's why she's annoyed with you. Sure. :P

These guys deserve as much time as they need to make their decisions. It just sucks that there are so many other deals that hinge on their decision.
Can't wait to read the "Phoenix: I still think it's a hockey market" chapter of Gary Bettman's autobiography. I'm guessing it's going to be chapter 11.

Not sure if it's been reported yet but the Wings initial offer was 13 years, 80 million. Now up to $90 million to keep the cap hit under $7 million.

More St. James: #Redwings made 2 year offer to D Sami Salo Sunday but lost him to Tampa Bay. Wanted to add both Suter & Salo.

Even more St. James: Impression is, D Ryan Suter wants to go to "quiet market." #RedWings would fit as they have passionate fans w/o intense scrutiny

Considering the initial offer was for 6.1ish, no wonder he didn't sign here right off the bat. At 6.9 per, at least you can say the Red Wings are trying to compete with the other teams.
