It's an odd choice for a 40 yr old. I don't know if Philly made any offer for him to stay, but headed to Dallas it's pretty clear he's content to be just a hired gun somewhere.

Side note tho.. Stars are making some decent moves. Whitney and Jagr and they got the better end of that Roy trade IMO
Datsyukian
Dat·syu·ki·an [dat-soo-kee-uh n]
adjective
1. When your moves are so amazing and beyond reason, the only way to describe them is "datsyukian."

Although I agree it seems absurd, we shouldn't write them off... they got tangibly better this off-season, and Lehtonen is always an x factor (if he can play more than 2 games without an injury)Is this guy really so bad with money that he has to go to the highest bidder at his age. Dallas has little chance at the Cup, if he wanted to go out on top he would have signed for less on a better team.
On any note, that is WAY too much money for him, and when put in perspective, it at least makes me feel a lot better about the Samuelsson deal...
All I have to say about Holland and our off-season:
and finally
Holland is a damn good GM. period.

He pretty much proved last year w/ signing with the Flyers that he was all about the money. I wonder if it's because he ran up too many debts in those Eastern European casinos while in the KHL & is in deep to the Russian mobIs this guy really so bad with money that he has to go to the highest bidder at his age. Then he would have stayed in the KHL, he could make way more there... it's all about ego to him, mark my words... whatever team pays him the most in the best league in the world, means they value him the most, and he wants his ego stroked... That and he's a greedy sob...He pretty much proved last year w/ signing with the Flyers that he was all about the money. Their offense looks like it could do some damage. I wouldn't count on Kari having another healthy season and their D is nothing special. I think at best their battling for the last couple of playoff spots. Of course if ya get in anything can happen.

Their no contender though is my point, his chances of going out on top are much better in Philly.

I was just talking about this with a buddy... Although Mo was a shell, he still would have been very valuable on their 4th line at a cheap rate... That had to go down as one of the worst organizational blunders ever... Could you imagine the Wings just letting Stevie walk, or the Avs telling Sakic to pack his bags? Classless move by the Stars, especially since he was still a servicable player, and at a cheap rate to boot...Anyone else find it a little weird that they ran Modano out of town for being too old but now they sign up a couple of 40 year olds for a combined $9m a year a couple of seasons later?
I'm sure the Oilers weren't a contender on paper when they bounced us in the first found en route to a SCF, or the Ducks when Babs was there, or, hell the Panthers in what was it, 94?Their no contender though is my point, his chances of going out on top are much better in Philly.
The point is, they're a better team than they were last year, and with the right chemistry and luck, who knows?
NO team is out of it on July 4th...

Totally agree with ya guys, I think they were in financial turmoil at the time, but that's still no good excuse.

Pasha schooled him, I remember Washington couldn't wait to unload Jagr. He really underperformed there for whatever reason.
