So, according to the DETNEWS article today that the bidding for Doan is starting at $7.5M, if so, take a long walk off a short pier!

This is the problem I don't get...owners want to cap the spending, yet pay outrageous amounts of salary just to outbid someone else! Shane Doan is NOT worth $7.5M....If he get that offer and takes it, then he is all about the money...unless a contender offers it to him, and I hope its not Holland....Make the trade for Nash or Ryan, they are at least YEARS younger and will be worth the money long term...No more than $5.5M for Doan...anything else would be asinine!

Now if I remember right Doan didn't want to go out east but
so maybe that's why he declined that offer.
Per spectors
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Krupa is referring to a rumor an Eastern Conference club made that offer, though there’s been nothing over the last several days to suggest that offer was a valid one.n

No, but I thought Phoenix might be leaving Phoenix.

Me thinks the Yotes will be around for another exciting year of fast paced on ice action, and off ice financial woes.

If Doan is wanting that much, he's not worth signing

I'd either sign him for one season at a relatively high cap hit (5-6) or 2+ for a low hit (3-3.5). Not high cap hit and a lot of seasons.

Doan is not a 7mil/year guy unless the team is built to win the Cup that year and has all the key elements in place. Adding Doan at any price would make sense. Otherwise let him go elsewhere.

At this point, we are going to have to overpay for talent. Either that, or just bring up the kids and focus on making the playoffs.

I prefer bringing up the kids and signing long term contracts with Justin Abdelkader, Valtteri Filppula, Pavel Datsyuk and Brendan Smith. We can always sign Shea Weber for $8.5 million per year next year. He's one of the few players worth the money.

Seem like Doan's price tag is unreal. I dont think he should get anywhere near $7.5 M at this point in his career. He would have been an interesting option at $4-5 M perhaps...

If everyone is awaiting lowering salary cap with new CBA, then maybe all these unreal new contracts make sence, because some contracts will be adjusted.

the problem is the reduction is proportional to the drop in the cap, therefore, it'll still take up the same percentage of cap.

I don't think his price tag starts at 7.5m at all. Thats what is rumored that the jets had offered him. They are simply saying the "bidding war" starts at that because its been the first public offer to be released. Ihe w

Honestly that doesn't sound too bad right now. Let's save our resources for next year perhaps and see what we've got talent wise.

I'd rather bring the kids up personally and try to trade one of our surplus forwards for some extra Defense-man depth or a draft pick.

According to hockeyinsiderr or whoever that is said the Jets were the Eastern team to offer that big contract. Not that hockeyinsidrr or whoever that is is a reliable source.

Doan just sign with the Coyotes and get this drama filled saga over with please kk.

Reports: Doan visits with Flyers, Rangers
Think for yourself. Question authority. Throughout human history as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are or where we are going in this ocean of chance, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself.
