So, according to the DETNEWS article today that the bidding for Doan is starting at $7.5M, if so, take a long walk off a short pier!

This is the problem I don't get...owners want to cap the spending, yet pay outrageous amounts of salary just to outbid someone else! Shane Doan is NOT worth $7.5M....If he get that offer and takes it, then he is all about the money...unless a contender offers it to him, and I hope its not Holland....Make the trade for Nash or Ryan, they are at least YEARS younger and will be worth the money long term...No more than $5.5M for Doan...anything else would be asinine!

Now if I remember right Doan didn't want to go out east but
so maybe that's why he declined that offer.

I'd either sign him for one season at a relatively high cap hit (5-6) or 2+ for a low hit (3-3.5). Not high cap hit and a lot of seasons.

Doan is not a 7mil/year guy unless the team is built to win the Cup that year and has all the key elements in place. Adding Doan at any price would make sense. Otherwise let him go elsewhere.

I prefer bringing up the kids and signing long term contracts with Justin Abdelkader, Valtteri Filppula, Pavel Datsyuk and Brendan Smith. We can always sign Shea Weber for $8.5 million per year next year. He's one of the few players worth the money.

Seem like Doan's price tag is unreal. I dont think he should get anywhere near $7.5 M at this point in his career. He would have been an interesting option at $4-5 M perhaps...

If everyone is awaiting lowering salary cap with new CBA, then maybe all these unreal new contracts make sence, because some contracts will be adjusted.

the problem is the reduction is proportional to the drop in the cap, therefore, it'll still take up the same percentage of cap.
