wouldn't it be something if there is a partial lockout and the winter classic is the opening game of the season?

Lockout = Alumni game (including Yzerman) plus selected current players (Dats, Kronner, Jimmy, Z) at the Big House playing with generic sweaters. Maybe the old Detroit Falcons aren't under NHL trademark anymore.

Is this even legally possible?

just logged into to my account and noticed that there is now a link to the alumni game when i clicked on the buy tickets link, but when i click on it, it says no events scheduled.

so perhaps they are close to releasing alumni tickets?


Now, if you go to "buy tickets", it tells you that you'll be able to buy 2 alumni game ticket packages for every seat you have for WC/GLI. It's still blank when you click the link for the game. But the description says that we can purchase them before public sale.

i noticed that too. considering that it says "ticket packages" i'm guessing that they are going to force you to buy AHL/OHL tickets with it

wondering when we will be able to buy? Didn't the email from Friday say deadline to enter the 22?

yes but the drawing doesn't take place until august 26.

all i have been able to find is that tickets will be avaliable in mid august. i'm assuming that's for season ticket holders.

Spacing it out a little is fine by me(if I'm lucky enough) as the it's a lot of cash for me to go to both. Have my fingers crossed. Although for me if I can purchase and it is attached to another game I really want it to the Griffs game. Not intererested at all in the OHL game.

not surprised that the nhl put that in there

i wouldn't be shocked if the winter classic turns out to be the 1st game of the nhl regular season, ala like the nba did with their christmas day games last year
