If they were in before mandatory helmets, do they have to wear them? I haven't seen an alumni game (hope someone is streaming these ones), so I don't know what they've done.

CONFIRMED: Scotty Bowman will coach the Detroit Red Wings in the 2012 Alumni Showdown as part of the SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival. Barry Smith will assist Scotty behind the bench.

Additionally, former Red Wing Red Kelly will be the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs with the assistance of Pat Quinn.

I thought it might be somewhat an issue because Scotty is a part of the Blackhawks organization, but it will be great to welcome him back. And perhaps be a bit more light-hearted considering the game doesn't mean anything.

This alumni game is becoming just so much bigger than any of the others ones have ever been. Great stuff.

You know, the term slobber knocker is just not used often enough outside of professional wrestling. I vow to use it more in everyday conversation.

They are recommend to wear them but not all do.

Damn I had to read that text message update I got from the Red Wings organization when they said Vladdy. Insane that we get to witness atleast four of the five russian five though!!!! This alumni game is getting BETTER AND BETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTER.
