MrBest7 7 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) I have identified the top 8 and the bottom 8 franchises in the NHL. San Jose has a good team but their management is not on a successful path. The worst management is Phoenix, but the worst franchise is the NY Islanders. Anaheim and Columbus follow very closely behind. Nashville has excellent management but is stuck in a small market. It's important to note that Anaheim and Washington each have 9 unrestricted free agents next year. Vancouver will have difficulty keeping their talent inside the salary cap. Alexander Burrows could be wearing the winged wheel! Also... Anaheim is not generating enough revenue to maintain big names like Corey Perry. My prediction is Detroit will sign Alexander Burrows and Corey Perry next year. Rick Nash will be traded to the New York Rangers. Follow the money and it will help you make predictions. Operating Income Toronto $81,800,000 NY Rangers $41,400,000 Montreal $47,700,000 Vancouver $23,500,000 Detroit $16,300,000 Boston $2,700,000 Chicago $8,700,000 Philadelphia $3,200,000 Pittsburgh ($200,000) Calgary $1,100,000 Los Angeles ($2,000,000) Ottawa $2,800,000 New Jersey ($6,100,000) Minnesota ($5,900,000) Edmonton $17,300,000 San Jose ($7,800,000) Washington ($7,500,000) Dallas ($1,100,000) Buffalo $5,600,000 Tampa Bay ($8,500,000) Anaheim ($8,400,000) Colorado $6,100,000 Nashville ($7,500,000) Carolina ($4,400,000) Florida ($7,000,000) Columbus ($13,700,000) St. Louis ($2,700,000) Winnipeg ($5,200,000) Phoenix ($24,400,000) NY Islanders ($8,100,000) Edited July 23, 2012 by Matt

MrBest7 7 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) With the available $13 million... The Wings need to sign Justin Abdelkader, Valtteri Filppula, Jimmy Howard and Brendan Smith...in this order. This strategy will position the Wings to sign Corey Perry and Alex Burrows. Edited July 22, 2012 by MrBest7
Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 Okay, I guess I'll bite. Why are you so hellbent on the Wings signing these two? In my opinion, Burrows represents everything that Detroit does NOT stand for and is not the type of player that the Wings will be after. Perry would be a solid addition, but I can't imagine he doesn't resign with Anaheim or get snatched up by another team first.
MrBest7 7 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 lol...thanks for the bite... Look at the top. Anaheim can't afford to pay at the cap level. Anaheim lost $8.4 million with a payroll of $59 million. Next year they have 7 unrestricted free agents on the market and 2 restricted. The salary structure and budget in Anaheim is one of the worst in the NHL. Nashville got hammered this year. Next year is Anaheim's turn. Perry is going to ask $7.5 million. The young 50 goal scorer is worth the money.

We need a tough player in front of the opposing goalie. Next year Vancouver is facing 9 unrestricted free agents and 1 restricted. The following year the Sedin brothers are unrestricted free agents ($12.2million). If you do the math...Vanvouver is going to part with some top talent next year. The overtime king of goal scoring. Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 I've disliked Burrows ever since he came into the league. He likes to pick fights and then hide behind his teammates. He's not exactly what I would call a "tough" player. The Wings need a true goal-scorer, not some little punk who benefits from playing with the Sedin twins. Barrie 900 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 Forget Perry, sign Getzlaf! Centers are more valuable than Wingers.

I may not like some things about Tootoo, but he legitimately a tough little dude. Burrows is a finger biting, diving, whining agitator. He makes Ott look classy. No thank you. There's very few players I can honestly say I'd be embarrassed to have on the Wings, but Burrows is one of them. 1 F.Michael reacted to this

Oddly enough, the thing I remember most about Burrows is an incident during the '07 Western quarterfinals (I think) when he got in Ott's face and then proceeded to run to the bench and hide behind Jeff Cowen.
