So I have some tickets to the winter classic and I think it would be a smart idea to book a hotel in the Detroit area for New Years Eve, but the idea of sitting in a Hotel room somewhere between Detroit and Ann Arbor and watching the ball drop dosnt really appeal to me. Al I have ever really known Detroit for is sports so what do you guys do for New Years Eve?
Things to do in the Metro Detroit area on New Years Eve.

Sit at home and watch the ball drop.
If you're up for a drive, you could check the Griffin's schedule and go to Grand Rapids for their NYE game. It's about 2.5 hours but still fun. You can even make it back by midnight or maybe find somewhere out there to hang out if you don't mind the long drive back in the middle of the night.

Thanks Offsides

Mount Clemens has a pretty cool fireworks display on NYE. If you want to drive that far...
