Anyway, I dont really have a lifestyle dedicated to being a good hockey player, it's just something I do on the side for fun. HavIng said that, I do lead a pretty active life as it is, so my cardio at least is usually in good shape. I play ice hockey year round, plus in the summers I do mountain biking, wakeboarding, waterskiing. I thInk my biggest prep for hockey would be the day of the game, just trying to eat healthy and balanced and load up on carbs before the game (and hopefully time it so I don't have to take a massive dump 5 minutes before puck-drop.)

I'm an avid fantasy hockey player, so part of my pre-season routine is to draft my teams or prospects for the year. Once i'm done with this I start to get excited for hockey, i'm a pretty big baseball fan so the wait between seasons isn't so bad.
I always take my vacation from work the week hockey starts, so I get to watch most of the games as I normally work nights.
As far as playing hockey, I did play in High School, 3 seasons as a Defensemen and 1 season as Goalie. I played quite a bit more with friends once I graduated, but I haven't played in a few years now. It's something i'd like to get back into eventually but Atlanta isn't exactly a hockey city and I literally know no one down here that knows how to play.
In memory of Steve Shoen, Rest in peace.

As many of you may know I play Sled Hockey which is Ice Hockey for disabled people. More specifically people with lower body injuries or deficits, such as Spida Bifida, Scoliosis and other Spinal Cord problems. I'm going into my 4 season on a team named the Grand Rapid Sled Wings. We are in a 5 Team League named the Mid-American Great Lakes Sled Hockey League. We play 5 Tournaments a year each team hosts a tournament from the Months of October through March and our National Disabled Festival is in April. The teams in our league are the Pittsburgh Mighty Penguins (which is a team sponsored by the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins), Ohio United ( a team comprised of a combo of teams from Cincy, Colum, and Cleve.) Fort Wayne/Turnstone Flyers, Michigan Sled Dogs (Fraser, Michigan) and the team I'm on the Grand Rapid Sled Wings. For the past few months this off-season I've decided that I'm going to try to Bulk Up and try to gain some Muscle for my Up-Coming season. I've been working out for 6 years but this summer I've really tried to up my Training and Gain some Muscle Weight and Mass. I've been taking vitamins and supplements to help the cause. Whey Protein, Creating, Glutamine and Branch-Chain Amino Acid. I am one of the few people on my team that can walk and use my lower body as most of my teammates are in a wheelchair. So I have a routine that I go through every week but being that my type of Hockey we use only our upper I've been concentrating on mostly my Upper Body; Arms, Shoulders Chest, Back, and Abs. As I've said that been using some supplements to help me out and I've noticed a few very good differences in using these products and how my preformance has been and I hope that it will translate on the ice this coming season. I try to lift as heavy as I can but due to my heart problems I can only lift a certain amount without causing anymore cardiovascular problems for myself. This thread is to discuss if you play hockey what you do to help get ready for your season so you can play the best you can play. Feel free to share workout-tips or Supplements that you use that have helped you or whatever. What do you do to help yourself get ready for another season of great Hockey action?? Please Share!!
