If you could reset the career of one Wings player...

Just for some light fun with the lockout looming. Hopefully this hasn't been done recently:

If you could reset the career or one wings player and have them back in their youth who would it be? Would it be a young Lidstrom to shore up the D for another 20 years or would it be Stevie Y to bring that talent and leadership?

For me I'd say Lidstrom only because of the situation our D is in right now, but I keep wanting to say Stevie anyways...

If we could have a reincarnation of Stevie Y or Lids, that would be the obvious choice, but Probert comes to mind too. Then I wouldn't want Lucic to be a Wing so bad. Lucic is the guy in the NHL that reminds me the most of Probert. Big dude that can toss em, but he can play the game too.

Nick Lidstrom, hands down the most obvious choice. Stevie Y was amazing, but imo Nick Lidstrom led our defense for 20 years and, along with that, ran our powerplay and shut down the other teams' top players night in and night out. Look at Nick's career and you see nothing but success... if we could re-set his career right now, I bet we would be seeing a few more cups in Hockeytown in the near future (not saying we won't be winning anytime soon)

I automatically think of players who had their career end early so the natural answers for me are Vladdy & Fischer. Beyond that, I would have loved it if Larionov could have spent his entire career in the NHL. I think if he could have played more in the pre-clutch & grab NHL, he would have been considered one of the greatest of all time.

It would be really nice to have Brett Hull or Luc Robatille in their primes right about now.

I still think the correct answer is Konstantinov, for how much he provided us in his time here, and the fact that he didn't even get a chance at playing out his career.

It would have to be Vladdie, but if I could clone Pasha and have him all over again, that wouldn't be too hard to swallow either.

Bert. If we're talking about the current team. (And hell, maybe all-time as well. Guy was a beast.)

Ha! This opinion you are NOT entitled to, im afraid!

i know that people are entitled to their own opinion, but i can't see how Konstantinov can be anything other than the best answer.

Good call. If it's any Wing ever, I suppose it's gotta be Vladdy. People don't realize/remember how good #16 really was - and I don't just mean in terms of "what-could've-been..." He was, at the time of the accident, Elite. He was The F***ing Man. He and Nick could've - and I say would've - gone on to become the best pairing in NHL history.

I've got a couple decidedly feel-good anecdotes, one featuring Perfect Human Being #5, the other, The Effing Man #16 himself. I don't think I've ever shared them here, not sure why....
