Zetts 236 Report post Posted September 11, 2012 A ranking based on....? Is there an article? I mean, the first thing that pops to mind when I see the Phoenix Coyotes as the top-ranked NHL team, is that the list is bulls***. But I'm clearly missing the basis of how they're ranking teams, because even ESPN isn't that dumb. 1 Ally reacted to this

thegerkin 189 Report post Posted September 11, 2012 All four Detroit professional sports made it. As suggested, I'll take a grain of salt with this as well. #30 - Detroit Red Wings (8th in NHL) #52 - Detroit Tigers (12th in MLB) #56 - Detroit Lions (14th in NFL) #80 - Detroit Pistons (18th in NBA)

It's not the top 100, it list them all. I think the list is pretty irrelevent and it really doesn't relate at all to how good any of the teams are. There seems to be a pretty high rating on how expensive tickets are (which is why you see Phoenix high on the list and Toronto low on the list). I've seen these lists before and I just find them very weird. Essentially, they are trying to show where the best bang for you buck can be found. Generally speaking, teams in major cities will be handicapped because their tickets will be more expensive (generally), but you would also need to consider that the disposable income of people in those cities would be higher (generally).....so it's tough to compare. 1 thegerkin reacted to this

I guess I didn't pay attention to most other entries on that "list" and didn't realize there were 122 professional teams (excluding minor pros) in the US. I remember reading that Detroit had the best "Owner/Players/Fans" relationship in the NHL. I, as a completely biased Red Wings fan, am more proud of this fact that the other categories. But again, a big ol' grain of salt Dude, I get girls like that all the time. Is that Shane Doan?

Crashnburnluder 385 Report post Posted September 12, 2012 Easy boys.... A lot of this thread has to be bang for its buck... Hence why the leads are at the bottom.... (most expensive tickets, havnt made the playoffs in ages) The coyotes... Dirt cheap tickets, nice arena, and considerably in the playoffs... It's pretty simple you can go to a coyotes game for next to nothing... And watch a playoff caliber team that actually made it farther then us last year. This isn't just a list of which team has the better history... Or who is better at playing the sport.
