Lilja Piercen Lowell, 8 lbs, 4 oz, healthy as can be.

The Budd Lynch passing urged me to announce her arrival into our collective Detroit Red Wing family. As one moves from the Red Wings present to Red Wings past, another moves from the future to the present and thus the traditions are carried forward.

Her 22 month old sister already loves the Wings and loves playing ball hockey and rod hockey, I'm sure Lilja will too (Especially when she sees pictures of the inspiration for her name wearing the Winged Wheel).

Cheers.

Congratulations man. What was the basis behind choosing Lilja for her name? Just curious.

rrasco, I'm assuming he picked Lilja for her name because his older daughter is already named Lebda.

I kid...

Congrats man! Being a parent is hard work, glad somebody's willing to do it!

Ouch, that hurts! Lilja made some mistakes but I always liked the guy. Not in the same league as Lebda, at all.

Mostly, it just dawned on me one day a few years ago while watching a game what a great first name it would make for a girl. And it's nice to tie it to Detroit Red Wing hockey in a little less obvious way (than naming her Stevie Y, or something )

The middle name is taken from a girl friend of ours who has proven over the years to be an invaluable friend to each of us, and our 22 month old and her absolutely adore each other.

Thanks very much, everyone. Go Wings!

Congratulations! I've never thought of it as a girl's name, but now that I see it in that context, it's brilliant.

And just wait until she gets that playoff beard on!
(Kidding, of course)

Enjoy your girls. They don't stay young for long, but they're yours for life.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself! It does make a pretty name, and will certainly be unique!

Congrats! I actually love the name for a girl. It's always exciting when a new addition comes to the family.

Congrats! What a great choice for a name.

I like the name. Congrats also. I'll have to consider Euro last names next time I have a kid.

How are Liv and Lil doing now?  I'd forgotten that it was you who had named your child Lilja.  I still like it.

Thanks for asking.
At almost 9 months, Lilja is the big strong cute smiley quiet type, just like her namesake.

Olivia is happy, healthy, funny, and just amazing. We play a lot of ball hockey on the huge backyard patio. At this point, two years eight months, she is a little more of a play maker then the shooter

Both are healthy as can be. Knock on wood.

You can't ask for more than that.  Good to hear the update.  Give them both a big hug and tell them you love them.  You can't say it often enough, believe me.
