number9 3,297 Report post Posted November 1, 2012 Shawn Thornton, Timonen, Alfredsson, Jagr, O'Donnell, Falk Could all just be bluffing... http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/11/01/bruins-thornton-latest-to-suggest-lockout-will-end-career/
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 1, 2012 For O'Donnell at least it's a very real thing. He's 41 years old and I don't think he currently has a contract with any team, does he? Sad way for his career to come to a close if there's no hockey this season. I always liked O'Donnell.

I agree....it would be a terrible way to end a career, thinking you could play one more year and there was a lockout.

That's why I'm glad that Lidstrom retired. Imagine him coming back for one more year, only to be slammed with a lockout like this.

chances14 227 Report post Posted November 8, 2012 i don't think that they are bluffing. 240 players who played in 03-04 never played a single game after the 04 lockout

MabusIncarnate 5,344 Report post Posted November 8, 2012 I'd add Whitney and Homer to that list also, Whitney was already 40 before the lockout, and yeah he can still play but I don't see him coming back next year.

Definitely homer at least. I just don't see a spot for him on the wings anymore..
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Was thinking about making a thread like this. Unfortunately, I think Sean O'Donnell will retire I really liked him. I think Holmstrom is done. Eric Godard announced his retirement a few days ago. There are plenty more guys that we may not see play again: -Brian Rolston -Jason Arnott -Mike Knuble -Andrew Brunette -Radek Dvorak -Brendan Morrison -Jody Shelley -Jay Pandolfo -Jaromir Jagr -Ray Whitney -Eric Boulton -Andreas Lilja -Andy Sutton Bertuzzi and Samuelsson will be a year older, too. Guest irishock Report post Posted November 9, 2012 Shawn Thornton has a decent poker face. Jagr has one of those faces where you know he has s*** pairs and all ins pre-flop 1 MabusIncarnate reacted to this
number9 3,297 Report post Posted November 9, 2012 -Mike Knuble I think famed wing Mike Knuble is announcing in Grand Rapids right now....maybe we'll keep him in the organization after her retires....
rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted November 9, 2012 I think the only reason Homer hasn't made a decision was because although there is obviously no room on the lineup for him this year, maybe he thinks things will align for him to play next year with the lockout uncertainty. I think it's time he hangs them up, but you can't blame him (that much) for wanting to keep playing.
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted November 9, 2012 He knew. I suspect it's the main reason why he retired.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 10, 2012 Gotta imagine that Teemu is among them. 663 regular season goals, over 1400 points. That's amazing especially considering he lost half a season in 95 and a whole season in 2005. He almost certainly would've become the 7th player with 700 goals or more. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted November 11, 2012 I doubt Whitney retires. He signed a pretty nice two year deal with Dallas; probably two years because of the potential lockout.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted November 14, 2012 Jagr won't retire. I'm certain he plays one more year just to milk his stats.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 16, 2013 O'Donnell apparently is hanging them up. Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun As per @DarrenDreger, Sean O'Donnell is going to retire. A great soul and players will tell you an even better teammate. He'll be missed.
