Man, the Wings should have lost 10-5. Osgood bailed their asses out as much as Feds did.

Lol...Federov scored his 5th in OT, kinda hard to have a penalty shot after that. I was there, it was my second NHL game. I was 10...remember the winner like it was yesterday. Konstantinov drop passed it back to Sergei for the shot. Good times.

Vlad's 4th assist. That guy was awesome.

Are you confusing penalty shot with shootout?

No I thought the penalty shot was before the OT and would have given him 6 goals if you include the OT goal. I could be wrong though.

I can't find any mention of a penalty shot in that particular game (which doesn't mean it didn't happen, of course). However, Feds had 4 goals against the Kings in '95, and was denied a 5th by Kelly Hrudey on a penalty shot (in overtime, ironically). Perhaps you're getting those games mixed?

But it's a moot point. Had Fedorov scored a penalty shot goal in the Washington game, the Wings would have won 5-4 in regulation, so his overtime goal wouldn't have happened.

This is very possible. It was 16 years ago and memory isnt what it used to be.

16 years ago? Pfft. I can't remember things I've been told 16 minutes ago...

Here's a recap of all 5 goals that night. Best quality I can find, but it's got some overlapping commentary in Russian...

No. My point was if he scores on a penalty shot, overtime might not of even happened. He might have won the game with the penalty shot goal and never got the other goal. He could of scored on the penalty shot but it would't have been his 6th goal, is the point.

Didn't Mario have a 5-goal game around the same time with 5 different types of goal? Even Strength, PP, SH, Penalty Shot and EN - or was it OT?
"If I can be totally honest, it's not a lot of guys you get impressed by. Actually, it's no one else but him. From the bench, to see what move he makes -- you're like, 'I wish I could do that.' Sometimes you sit on the bench and just think, 'wow,' and you look over to the other bench and they sit there and shake their heads, too. He has great, great skills. I'm probably not going to play with another player who has the kind of skills he has." Mikael Samuelsson on Pavel Datsyuk

Looking through one of my Red Wing Media Guides, Sergei had two penalty shot as a Wing. Dec. 27th 1993, he scored on Andy Moog in Dallas, and on Feb. 12th 1995 he did not score against Kelly Hrudey of L.A. in Detroit.
