I was glad to see several Canadian fans denouncing the behavior of their fellow fans on the comments section of that page, but wow. Yes, hockey is Canada's game, and to some, that means that other nations aren't allowed to beat them at it. Please try to lose with some class rather than saying it doesn't count because the sport originated there.

It's no different if Canada beat USA in the gold medal game. There is fans like that everywhere that would post ridiculous things like that, doesn't mean all Canadians think that way. I know most Toronto fans only care about the Men's Olympic team. I don't know anyone in Toronto that watches the Spengler or WC.

I was just coming here to post the same thing. 

 

It's basically 10 or 15 fans overreacting on twitter.  Much worse things are said here when the Wings are knocked out of the playoffs.

Ryan Murphy is the worst piece of garbage we've had on D for years and Subban is all hype and overrated. Should have been 2 more Wings prospects on team Canada. The US team wanted it more and had a superior goalie. and then Canada couldn't beat a team of puckhogs for bronze....not that i watched cause truth be told, i don't wake up at 3am for bronze. Better luck next year.

P.S. Bring a coach next year.

I'm with you 100% on this one. Being a Canadian, I feel that if it's "our game" we should prove it by taking gold. For the fans that no doubt are looking back at their lame comments likely feeling pretty embarrased as they should, they shouldn't lash out at a country cause their team bested ours. Last time I heard, Canadians were supposed to be "classy" and "nice people"....apparently we don't know how to lose with class and give credit where it's due. For us, hockey is gold or bust, but if it's a bust, learn from it. Don't make yourself and your country look bad.

Canada had a stacked team due to the lockout, they chocked really badly.  I was very surprised and disappointed how bad they performed against the States.  The Americans deserved to win the game and that's that.  The way some of us went off after the fact was pretty pathetic, but not all that surprising.  Like others have said, there's always people that overeact when their team losses.

No longer do American's need miracle's to compete and beat the best in the world.  That is because they are among the best in the world, from top to bottom.  I am a USA hockey certified coach and the way we are instructed to train our young kids from an early age in todays world is on par with every other "hockey" country in the world including Canada.  No longer is the CHL's the best place to train and develope.  The last few season's of the WJ's has proven that our kids are developing just as good, if not some better in the USA Developement program along with the Colleges. Justin Schultz who happened to be to most sought after defenseman over the summer did his training and developement where? The CHL? No, Wisconsin...as in University of...as in NCAA. You sound just like the people on those tweets. I've lived in both countries, I'm a dual citizen, and I love both. Each has it's advantages and disavantages. And it's funny whenever a Detroit fan discusses USA and Canada considering Detroit is in the US but it's so damn close it feels Canadian sometimes.

 

Hockey isn't Canada's game, it belongs to everyone. If you lay out some ice, skate on it and play hockey, it's your game.
