Canadian hockey fans - they mad!

I found this to be both amusing and sad.

"A sampling of tweets from Canadian hockey fans after their 5-1 loss to the United States in the semifinals of the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championship:

U know what Americans f*** you... 3/4 of ur team grew up, train & play in Canada..and we still got free health care so ya f*** u

Someone break both of Gibsons legs, f*** this guy.

huh Canada lost in hockey...... time to riot
:(

f*** the states...hockey's Canada's game

@
Canada cares. Hockey is our game, stick to football you field fairies

Reading all these tweets about how USA's hockey team is better. Ya no. Hockey is Canada's game.

USA I CAN'T HEAR YOU BECAUSE WHAT COUNTRY HAS THE WORLDS GREATEST HOCKEY PLAYER? COUGH. CANADA *****. FROM GRETZKY TO CROSBY.

f*** you u stupid Americans! Hockey is Canada's sport. Go find ur own. Im not even watching the game anymore. I know the out come

Nobody sensible ever gives a s*** about beating America in a hockey game because, hockey-wise, America doesn't really matter.

So you'll win the odd game America but you'll never be a hockey country that matters, like we are.

@
don't think those towers are stillstanding

Wow Canada... If we don't have hockey what do we have? Maple syrup? Cause that's all I can think of.

I really think Canada should stop developing other countries players... It's the Canadian hockey league not the f***in world hockey league!!

The only reason that USA won is because they send all of their players to Canada to play Junior hockey

When you bring players from other countries into the best junior league in the world (Canadian Hockey League) and develop them you've got

to expect results like this. It's that simple. But you win together & you lose together. Like I said, no excuses they beat us fair & square

All five Team USA goals were scored by NCAA players, not CHL players.

f*** ALL YOU ******* YANKS, hockey is Canada's game

Apparently 1 win over Canada makes your country better at hockey than ours. USA had a good game but calm down with your Canada chirps

when usa thinks they're better at hockey than canada how cute

Just shaking my head at team Canada
I'm done with hockey

I was glad to see several Canadian fans denouncing the behavior of their fellow fans on the comments section of that page, but wow. Yes, hockey is Canada's game, and to some, that means that other nations aren't allowed to beat them at it. Please try to lose with some class rather than saying it doesn't count because the sport originated there.

It's no different if Canada beat USA in the gold medal game. There is fans like that everywhere that would post ridiculous things like that, doesn't mean all Canadians think that way. I know most Toronto fans only care about the Men's Olympic team. I don't know anyone in Toronto that watches the Spengler or WC.

No different to the Wings fans on these boards that react to playoff losses to the likes of Nashville and San Jose by asking their fans how many cups they've won.

I was just coming here to post the same thing.

It's basically 10 or 15 fans overreacting on twitter. Much worse things are said here when the Wings are knocked out of the playoffs.

You can't expect to win medals in this tournament if you make big mistakes like cutting your best d-man
Is his name Ryan Sproul? What do I win?

Ryan Murphy is the worst piece of garbage we've had on D for years and Subban is all hype and overrated. Should have been 2 more Wings prospects on team Canada. The US team wanted it more and had a superior goalie. and then Canada couldn't beat a team of puckhogs for bronze....not that i watched cause truth be told, i don't wake up at 3am for bronze. Better luck next year.

P.S. Bring a coach next year.

:hysterical: haha wow.. a little excessive to say the least.

The excessive part is lashing out at the US for winning a hockey game that they deserved to win and not at the lazy unmotivated bums that lost the game for our country.

What I don't get is this sense of entitlement any fan of any team has. It's what made beating Canada all that much better. If the CFL starting developing players in the NFL and they had a tournament in which they beat the USA, I wouldn't go all ape-sh*t like some here have.

Just because you may have created a sport doesn't mean you own it or that you're not allowed to be beaten at it. To those b*tching....Grow Up and stop making the rest of your fans look bad.

What about squeaky shoe bouncy ball!?

Seriously though USA is better then Canada, not by sports by military, finically (maybe).

I'm with you 100% on this one. Being a Canadian, I feel that if it's "our game" we should prove it by taking gold. For the fans that no doubt are looking back at their lame comments likely feeling pretty embarrased as they should, they shouldn't lash out at a country cause their team bested ours. Last time I heard, Canadians were supposed to be "classy" and "nice people"....apparently we don't know how to lose with class and give credit where it's due. For us, hockey is gold or bust, but if it's a bust, learn from it. Don't make yourself and your country look bad.

Canada had a stacked team due to the lockout, they chocked really badly. I was very surprised and disappointed how bad they performed against the States. The Americans deserved to win the game and that's that. The way some of us went off after the fact was pretty pathetic, but not all that surprising. Like others have said, there's always people that overeact when their team losses.

Wow....Do you think they are jumpin all over the Russian fans like that now too? Fact is, it's not the 80's anymore. No longer do American's need miracle's to compete and beat the best in the world. That is because they are among the best in the world, from top to bottom. I am a USA hockey certified coach and the way we are instructed to train our young kids from an early age in todays world is on par with every other "hockey" country in the world including Canada. No longer is the CHL's the best place to train and develope. The last few season's of the WJ's has proven that our kids are developing just as good, if not some better in the USA Developement program along with the Colleges. Justin Schultz who happened to be to most sought after defenseman over the summer did his training and developement where? The CHL? No, Wisconsin...as in University of...as in NCAA. I am not knocking the Canadien Developement leagues at all, they are just as great, but again, 1980 was a long time ago...World Hockey has caught up to the Canadians and Russians.

Regardless of whether teams are catching up they still aren't on par with Canada, even I can admit that as an America that moved to Canada. Canada still produces the best hockey players and it's really not even close. I know within 50 KM of Toronto (GTA), stars like Giroux, Stamkos, Getzlaf, Perry, Duchene, Skinner, Neal, Staal bros, Spezza, Nash have made the NHL just to name a few off the top of my head. The rest of Ontario alone is stacked, then within Canada it's not close. Mackinnon and Drouin for example will go within the top 3 this year in the draft, two of which are Canadian.

This is all well and good but still doesn't excuse the fact you shouldn't act like Canada is the only place in the world hockey should be played and the teams in Canada are the only ones that should ever win anything.

You sound just like the people on those tweets. I've lived in both countries, I'm a dual citizen, and I love both. Each has it's advantages and disavantages. And it's funny whenever a Detroit fan discusses USA and Canada considering Detroit is in the US but it's so damn close it feels Canadian sometimes.

Hockey isn't Canada's game, it belongs to everyone. If you lay out some ice, skate on it and play hockey, it's your game.

If you go on twitter you can find a handful of idiots blabbing about s*** anytime you'd like, it doesn't represent how the country feels at all. Most Canadians are most mad at the Canadian team for playing like absolute s***, even the most uneducated fans only blame subban for the loss

Well, that is just not fact. For every one of those Canadian born players, the an every much as good American born player. I am not arguing the quality of Canadian born players, but the American are becoming just as good and are proving it in the ranks year after year. Russian's and Swede's as well. The #1 CSS prospect is Canadian and #2 is American (highest ranking Defenseman) so these programs are on par. I would say the only reason you have more Canadian's today making a big splash is that it's a Nationwide love of hockey and that is what they look forward to playing. In America, it's a regional thing. Again, for every GTA player you listed, there is an equally as good player in the Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan/Boston area as well as Russian and Swede.

Considering American's have 10 times the population of Canada, its really a moot point bringing up Canadians love for Hockey. It's the one thing that Canada is actually amazing at and the only thing Canadians care about, that is why it's a nationwide love. As I stated earlier, those players I named were from one area, the GTA (50 KM of toronto radius). The fact that a small portion of Ontario has produced that kind of talent is pretty amazing, there is no reason to discredit how far ahead Canada still is.

The top players that come in every year are pretty much Canadians, whether we want to admit it or not. Just recently you have guys like Seguin, Hall, Hopkins, Tavares, Eberle, Duchene, Kane and just recently will be McKinnon, Huberdeau, Drouin I mean thats some serious top level talent. I don't know any recent American list that could match that kind of lineup.

I know it's an unrealistic thing to post considering it's just drafts, but it shows Canada still is stacking up the best talent year after year.

If there is a weakness with the Canadians, it is definitely goaltending. Teams are definitely getting closer, but not even close right now to Canada.

edit: sorry about the last picture, it's blurry for some reason.

Again this is a moot point. You can post stats until you are blue in the face. Still doesn't excuse the meat heads like we seen on those tweets. And the fact that just because a sport was changed a bit and updated in Canada doesn't mean that Canada is the only country that play it good.

Canada needs to thank the Brits for Hockey.
