Happy retirement Homer you deserve it! Now you can block people in the grocery lines or something! You'll be missed and everyone is sad to see you go!

Smply the best screener to play- re-invented that position. Took a lot of cross checks and abuse standing there! thanks for the years, 96! All the best Homer!
Raising another Red Wings Fan!

Money on the board-SCP 2013
I'm going with the 22 special. 2 bucks for every 22 goal. 2 bucks for every 22 fight
5 bucks for every series win....another 5 for every shut out! LETS GO RED WINGS!!
ADDENDUM: Since it looks like Toots may not reinserted in the series, I would like to offer Bert his money on the board. So, 2 bucks for every Bert fight, 2 bucks for every Bert goal AND since OT has been a pattern, I want to add 5 bucks for any RED WINGS OT winner. LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!!

Thanks, homer. I'll always appreciate the damage he put himself through for the Wings. Maybe O'Halloran will stop waiving off legit goals now... ...nah who am I kidding.

If you start a new thread within two hours after a Wings game, specifically a loss, YOU ARE WRONG.

Thought I saw somewhere that Homer & the family were going to stay in the Detroit area once he's retired.  I'm hoping he takes over Murph's job between the benches on FSD broadcasts.

That would be amazing.  Could you imagine the gems he would come up with on a regular basis?  We would all witness the invention of a new hockey language. :P

If it's one person who would throw his body into harms way regardless of the outcome, it would be good ol demolition man. Homer put his body through hell this NHL career, and we can't thank him enough for what he has done for this franchise over the years. I'm happy to see him retire, and give his body some well deserved rest. We'll miss you like no other if we still get 24/7 Wings Leafs.

Homer decided to retire after realizing that, after Nick retired, he has nobody to eat his ritual pre-game meal with. Poor guy. As usual, all the best to him and his family for his sacrifices to the team. Hope to see him back with the Wings in some capacity.

I like Murph and his dollar hot dog antics. Can't we have both Murph AND Homer in between the mics?

I will miss this guy... probably the best agitator in the league IMO. He would make goalies and defenders FURIOUS. Sad day...

Oh, heavens..."The Murph and Homer Show". That would be so full of epic awesomeness that the league would have to pass a "pre-game parity" clause to keep other teams from being jealous.

My money on the board pledge:

$1 for each goal scored by a player after whom I have named a hamster.

An additional $5 for each hat trick scored by a player after whom I have named a hamster.

An additional $10 if any of the above goals is the GWG goal that gives us the series win.

An additional $50 if it is the GWG that wins us the Cup.

$5 for a SO by Jimmy.

Hamsters' names (current players in RED):  Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

                                                                      Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert

                                                                      Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

                                                                      Andrew Patrick Ian Todd

And introducing:  Jordin Damien Gustav James

TOTAL SO FAR: $27

I will always have a sore spot against the league / Bettman for introducing anti-Homer rules to stifle his awesomeness.

Sad to see him go, but understandable.  Who's gonna piss off the opposing goalies now?

To honour him could we have 96 painted in the crease? Just to remind any visiting goalies that are getting cocky because he's not there any more.

Really it should be halfway in & halfway out.

Money of the Board-2013 Playoff Edition: Current $31 ($5 per series win {1}, $5 per series sweep, $5 per Kronwalling {2}, $2 per Jimmy shutout or fight, $2 per Tootoo goal or fight, $2 per Mule or Brunner goal {8})

Great idea, Homer is hilarious and would be a great addition. Wouldn't be surprised if the Wings offered him a job in GR or Detroit as some kind of special teams coach.
