Saw some highlights of tonights intra-squad game...That kid has a big nose..."Schnoz".

 

Brun-O or Schnozz (He has a pretty impressive beak on him)

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed

 

 

EDIT - with a big nose - aka "beak".....Call him "Beaker", and whenever he scores - Jumbotron runs the "meep meep meep meep".

Does that mean they can play the Swedish Chef theme every time one of the Swedes score?

Firstly, excuse my English, I'm a French-native speaker (from Switzerland)

I just want to know if the hype on this guy is legit. Can a guy put up these numbers in Europe and then step over and do the same in the NHL?

Brunner has better stats (points per game) than Zetterberg, Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin, John Tavares or Joe Thornton in the Swiss League. Will he do the same in the NHL? Who knows? But he has the skills to be a (very?) good player in the NHL.

 

Is it pronounced Brooner or Brunner as in Langenbrunner?

to answer your question simply... yes. Look at Z's stats before he came to detroit and his first year here, and his stats were not nearly as great as Brunners are.

You're comparing two different leagues though. Swiss hockey v Swedish hockey. That really is my question. How do stats from another league translate to the NHL? Guess we'll find out real soon!

Yes, but Z was 17 years old in 98, Brunner was 24 in 2010. Add to that that the SEL and the NLA are very different and comparing Brunner's and Z's stats is apples to oranges.

Yes it may be different leagues, and as someone else posted they is an age difference of a few years between there nhl starts. My point was that Brunner put up very good stats, which were better than Z's stats in what I believe to be roughly the same caliber league. So yes it is quite possible to transfer that to the nhl. Now WILL he? That is something we will find out, but as for is it possible? Yes it is possible, especially for a player of his skill level. He is very sneaky too and loves to drive the net and he is a sniper.

First of all, "Gunner" was the bad guy from team Iceland and the Mighty Ducks.  So as much as I'd love to support the aforementioned nickname, out of respect for Charlie Conway and the rest of the gang I cannot. 

 

Secondly, "Brunbelievable Goal!" is going right up there with "Brunder Struck!" as my new favorite Brunner saying.  Ken Daniels will say it and love it.  And maybe it will give him some new material so he's stop saying every member of the team is "Datsyukian" because the drop a shoulder fake on a goalie once in a while.
