1/19: Red Wings 0 at St. Louis Blues 6

I had to listen on sports radio all day about people thinking the wings would be good this season. I really don't know how it's gonna happen unless they sign some free agents. The wings were not that great defensively last year with Lids and Stuart. They were good but not great, and most of us I think dreaded the hole on the blue line when they left.

The fact Holland got nobody to fill the hole is really showing. It been a long time since the wings got beat up this bad in a game. First period at one point the shots were 16-2 Blues. I really don't remember the last time the wings were dominated that badly in shots. 5-0 is nuts.

Wings may just have to bend over this year, sadly.

Just not a fan of the game itself anymore. The brass has destroyed it. I don't know how this product is considered good.

cough 6-0 cough.

Sigh...

First star: Jimmy Howard

Second and third stars: The left and right breasts of the chick behind Babcock.

I'm a straight chick and couldn't care less about boobs, but at least it's been something fun to talk about during this mess.

I always notice when the defense sucks, everyone gives sympathy credit to the goalie. Sure he had a ton of shots on him but on three breakaways, you'd hope he could stop one of them at least. I'm not blaming him for anything but he wasn't much of a step ahead of the rest of the team like everyone is trying to make him out to be. This team, all-around, has sucked tonight, including Howard. He's just starting where he left off as he was pretty damn bad in the playoffs last year as well.

Does anyone blame Nick?

Honestly, the writing was on the wall the past few years and especially in the Nashville series. It's only one game, though I think it's pretty clear the Red Wings are in transition. Time for Holland to finally acknowledge that and inject the few talented young players in the system that are NHL ready or close to see what they have.

This entire team has it's head up it's ass. When you lack overall talent as well, it's a pathetic combination.

The NHL needs to institute a running clock when one team is up by 5 goals, just to get bulls*** games like this over. If someone had a pair they'd be fighting right now but they don't - the Wings are WAYYY too soft to play in this league right now.

It's the 80's all over again.

The mid to late 80s were fun because they had heavyweights like Probert and Kocur, plus plenty of other guys who would drop the gloves and throw big hits. Plus there was the young superstar Stevie Y.

This team doesn't really have any of those components. I'm not sure what its identity is really.
