Where is Gustav Nyquist?

Where is Nyquist?

We are going to have to score a lot to make up for our lack of quality D this year if we want to win. I haven't seen much from Mursak or Emmerton to feel as if these are must keep players. What's their upside? 3rd line checkers at best.

Nyquist is going to take Filppula's spot in the top 6 next year. Maybe this year if we can trade Filp for some help on the blue line this year.

With Nyquist in the line up, he is helping the team this year and building for next.

Not really sure how a small, skilled, playmaking forward would have helped us last night. Especially considering how the small, skilled, playmaking forwards we already have (and whom are all better than Nyquist) were nonexistent last night. If Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Flip couldn't handle the Blues, Nyquist sure as hell couldn't.

This is called depth, and forecasting. If we brought up Nyquist at the start of the season we would have lost Mursak, Emmerton etc. for nothing. Better to have too many forwards and when injuries happen you can call up the players still on two way deals. And if things go really bad, then you can still make the roster moves later. Just gives the team much more options.

Mursak, Smith, and Emmerton are positively decrepit, right?</p></blockquote>

No, but they are all terrible....well maybe Smith gets a "not that good"

You're a Blackhawks fan, right?

I've seen flashes from Nyquist that suggest he could be a player. Mursak and Emmerton have never shown me anything, and they had some terrible turnovers on Saturday, though that was true of a lot of guys.

not by any stretch....I just happen to have been relocated to the wrong state. In all fairness, Mursak and Emmerton <em class='bbc'>were</em> terrible on Saturday, and Smith wasn't that good either.</p></blockquote>

To say they played bad on Saturday is fine.. But that doesn't make them terrible players. Nearly every player on the wings played bad on Saturday.

Playing a terrible game and being a terrible player are entirely different things.

Was scoring 7 points in Smith's first 14 games noteworthy? Or is that why he's designated "not that good" instead of "terrible"</p></blockquote>

Exactly....he's at least showing signs of progressing and playing NHL hockey. The other two have not contributed anything other than occupying ice surface.
