Toggers 3 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 I didn't realise until recently that Mickey Redmond played in the historic 1972 series against the Soviets. He only played a bit in the first game, no games afterward, and I'm wondering if anyone knows why. I've never heard Mickey even mention the series in all these years. cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 From 1972summitseriesdotcom: Redmond unfortunately didn't get to see much ice in the series. The former Montreal Canadiens forward was selected to play in the opening game in the Montreal Forum. Perhaps coach Harry Sinden was hoping Redmond would have a little extra fire in his belly since he was getting a chance to play in front of his old fans. But the Russians embarrassed Canada badly in that game, and lineup changes were made. Mickey Redmond, who also suffered from a viral infection while in Europe, never made it back into the lineup as Team Canada went with largely veteran players.
