we need to go back to the basics. we're trying too hard to make creative things happen, when we aren't in the groove yet. nyquist is out there trying to spin-o-rama pass and s***, bud come on, basics. i think that's why lashoff excelled so much last night, we're forgetting the basics and he's playing the basics. he's sticking to the safe plays, he's not forcing the pass, he'll throw it up the boards if he doesn't feel comfortable.

my first impressions of kent huskins: i love him so far, real stay at home defensemen. he's playing it real safe, and at this time, that's what we need. we won't even let someone be the last man back, he'll rotate back around them if they try breaking out. i like him.

Looks like he's playing really simple and not above his abilities, which I really like. It's needed on this defensive roster.

On the negative side he looks very slow out there, but as long as he actually does stay at home for the most part he should do the job.

Lashoff is playing with confidence... as a veteran

no he looks absolutely slow, it seems like he doesn't have his legs on him right now but what can we expect. he sounded absolutely winded there on the interview.

everyone needs to realize, we didn't develop smith into this defensive defensemen who plays outstanding defense. we developed him into a poised puck moving defensemen. he has outstanding offensive capabilities but his defensive play has always been sloppy.

Smith just looks nervous. Keeps falling over.

Also him and Quincey simply don't work as a pairing.

Plenty of offensive d-men look awful defensively when they first enter the NHL so I wouldn't exactly give up hope on him.

At least he is paired with Quitsey. He should learn a lot. :scared:
