This is an absolute steal for the Sharks. Gomez did get bought out, so he doesn't really need a big contract right now. But damn, this is a great deal for the Sharks.

Low risk signing for 700.000 don't know where he will fit but maybe they are using him as a 3rd liner or some kind of mentor to the young guys like Couture.

talk about a drop in contract cap...
good for him, and great god - what a steal for Sharks. even if it's one year the guy should be poised to prove everybody wrong. unless he pulls a.... mmmm... Scott Gomez... and scores 2 goals the entire season ![]()

My dad in nor Cal says they don't need him being a Sharks fan of course. Apparently 1 goal a season is worth $700,000 now days. Dang

This is a guy who failed utterly to perform on a huge contract. UTTERLY! He went more than one full year without a goal, and he's completely useless when he's not scoring. So please explain to me how this signing falls into the "OMG WHAT A STEAL!" category.

Relatively low risk, high reward.
It's hard to think he'll go on a dry spell like the last one. I haven't seen much of Gomez the last couple seasons though so i can't really speak to what the hell happened to him.

Maybe he can't handle high pressure markets?

Who wants this guy at any price?! Crazy but awesome the sharks picked him up as we will get to see him 3 times this season, unless he's in worcester by then...

Remember Chris Drury? NYR is where players go to get paid loads and get ruined.
