Suter and Parise don't look worth all the money if you ask me. Now granted they had Harding in net, and Parise had a gift goal off of Zetterberg, I still think they were over payed. Not saying they aren't good players but they should have beat a Wings team trying to find their defensive identity. But they didnt, so hopefully this will shut people up about Kenny not signing them. Hopefully this is the start of a confident Wings team. If we can beat Chicago on Sunday then I think we could go on a little points roll, maybe not 2 points every night but atleast 1 point a night streak.

I'm new to posting but I figured since I'm always on here why not... Does anyone else get the vibe off Brunner that he's really grateful to be living the dream, he looks pumped and he plays with passion every shift. I really think more wings players need half his enthusiasm. Love what Brunner brings to the team, and that shot...wow

Whatever happens, DO NOT let the Mule become Brunner's mentor on the team.

Parise was very very good, he was worth every bit of the money in my mind.

Suter has been terrible. Then again it's early, and he's not playing with a perennial Norris candidate, in a Barry Trotz system, with Rinne in net, so he's not going to look as good as he did in Nashville.

Parise had a great game. Even if you take away his "gift goal" he still had a few "on the doorstep" chances.

But Minnesota is still not an elite level team, but that is neither here nor there. Point is, a win is a win, everyone looked good, but the defense is still vulnerable to an excellent opponent.

If history is any judge, the true test of this team will be in the next game.

Finally, a guy on this team who's actually been taught by other coaches on how to block shots.

Babcock needs to instill this more in this team. We're always around dead last in the NHL in blocked shots.

Well, I think as a team the Wings blocked 24. So it’s not just Huskins, but he lead the way.

First, HI!

Second: I don't understand the hype about Brunner! He doesn't do anything defensively, it seems he's afraid to even touch his opponents. One goal for DAL and one tonight for Minnesota clearly went on his account, as he just refused to (even slightly) disturb the attacking player who would eventually make the deciding pass which led to the goal.

Third: I agree he's a sniper, his shootout goal was great (but easy, since there was no pressure. Also: he couldn't do this in Switzerland anymore...) and the goal against Minnesota was nice, too. I agree he can score, but hey! Don't compare him to Datsyuk or Z, because Brunner does not do ANY defense work at all. He's just waiting for a good pass...

Fourth: You Detroit guys give him a lot of "rookie credit". Very fair. I just hope that he will adjust quickly. He needs to become a better team player for sure.

I agree, Parise was out for blood tonight. Gotta respect that in a player. He is the type of player you throw money at, no doubt. There may be an argument Suter is overpayed, but again, it's super early to tell.

Not worried about Franzen effecting Brunner simply because Brunner actually appears to enjoy hockey... Sometimes I feel like mule is just doing it cause he can't do much else. Just look how Brunner reacts, he loves scoring goals

"kind of a sloppy pass by datsyuk there, it was not a clean pass.." -minny announcers on pavel's sick feed to bert.

Hmm, I must have been getting an NHL Network feed; the announcers praised that pass over and and over again. i thought it was the Minny feed and was impressed by how non-homer-esque they were. Guess that explains it.

As a Cleary fan, he struggled a bit, and looked frustrated. I think his knee did not heal correctly; looks half step slower. Hockey is funny; A guy misses on a breakaway and your first thought is he's lacking confidence. I think he's lacking confidence. :)

We have a shooting problem. Brunner shoots. So far we're hyped because the kid picked a corner tonight and chances find him so easily when he's on a line with one of our playmakers.

Great agme tonight. We own the Wild and have for some time. Glad to see that continue. A couple of days off, several good practices and we look better. The D looked a lot better, which will happen as guys get used to playing with each other. Even Quincey had a good game. We were able to saty out of the box for most of the second half of the game, which heped a ton. back to .500, can we get above that mark? We have to. 15 of our first 24 are at home. The second half of the season will be brutal.

I agree he needs to be more aggressive in the corners, but he's playing safe. And honestly it might be what Babcock wants him to do. I believe they want him trying to get open in the offensive zone rather then muck in the corners. He has made a few bad reads defensively, but honestly he's been impressive playing top line minutes. He's doing what he's asked, so that's why we are high on him.

Remember when half of LGW was saying that Bertuzzi was past his usefulness and should be bought out? Me too. Haha. Kinda nice to have a guy who can hang on to the puck in the offensive zone eh?

Another thing, we are hyped about Brunner but how many other wings do you guys think would have actually scored that shot?

Pav. That's it.

I see. Yes, he shoots, and not too bad, that's for sure.

Is he really doing what he's asked? I doubt it. Thus far he's been playing like Jason Spezza during the lockout in Switzerland, i.e., a total diva who really tries to avoid any contact to opponents. No team can afford such a player in the Swiss League, yet in the NHL!

That said, I agree that he should get some more time to adapt, but he really needs to go after the puck in every situation where it's reasonable. He hasn't done this, neither in the defense zone nor during PPs...

What kind of guy are you?

Swiss guy. Know the Swiss League very well but enjoying NHL too.

Seen Brunner for years. I'm not a fan of EV Zug (his former team), and as such, not too desolate about seeing him playing in the NHL now :eh:

He doesn't seem to mind getting his nose dirty to get scoring chances and he has been responsible defensively for the most part
