What will cement Tootoo as an all time legend in fans eyes, even if he were to get traded the very next day.... is if he absolutely beat the snot out of Weber the first game we play the Preds. Someone needs to.

Bert honorably tried to, but lets face bert got beat silly... tootoo could teach Weber a thing or too though (i like tootoo puns almost as much as mickey redmond does)

Umm... what?

Why do people make these things up?

The good news is that we get better and better every game. Looks like it actually was the Lockout and the lack of preparation wich caused our problems. And as we are one of the oldest teams in the league : Old guys need their time to get going. :P

Last night was the first night the Wings played like Wings I used to watch. It was great, it was fun but lets also not forget that it was against a tired team. Kronwall has to improve, but I'm quite certain that he will once he gets used to his new role. Cleary is a different matter. I'll go with Crymson on this : Once I liked him very much, the last games were just awful. But he had one Situation yesterday that made him look like in the old days when racing with a stars defenseman for the puck and nearly got a breakaway. That at least was a good effort you have to give him credit for. Tootoo and Brunner are both great acquisitions who fit perfectly in our rooster. Well done Wings and I'm looking forward for revenge against the Blues on Friday.

I dont get the Kronwall hate...at least when Ericsson is on this roster.

That.guy.is.terrible.

I cant believe how little he's learned, even with years next to Lidstrom. Guy doesnt use his body, his stick, or his head. Im baffled by his contract extension.

No, Ericsson barely played with Lidstrom. I think if he had, he'd be a lot better. I always wanted Big Rig to be partnered up with Lids but Babs wouldn't listen. Oh well.....

A few thoughts on the season so far after this game...

Quincey has been solid since the poor start.

Smith has also improved, and at times he looks very promising. Not his best showing yesterday though.

Ericsson does not look very good. Nor does Kronwall although he was a bit unlucky with the penalties yesterday.

Huskins is reliable.

The top six is providing all the scoring. Brunner is efficient but very one dimensional.

The bottom six has not scored a single goal if I'm not mistaken. Cleary and Miller have not looked good at all. We miss Helm badly. Tootoo is providing exactly what is expected.

Howard is our most consistant player.

Overall, things are looking good.

I like how Huskins calms things down. There were one or two times when he calmly prevented some dangerous breakouts. We badly needed a defensive specialist. Brunner is the real deal, and Tootoo impresses me more every game. Usually our agitators are one dimensional talents, but Tootoo seems to be relatively smart, can shoot, and is an effective energy guy who could probably fill in on upper lines in emergencies.

I understand Hank and Burnner built chemistry during the lock out and obviously Flip and Datsyuk had it working last night but I still think in the long run the lines would be more balanced if Burrner and Flip flipped places

I think it would bring slightly more balance throughout the lines, but after last night you can't do it at this point

I agree, I've been saying this for a while around here. I don't think it's a good idea to have the two guys who lead your team in shots on the same line.

Brunner and Z play great together, and it even seems to keep Franzen going, he has been playing fairly well thus far. Not just on the scoresheet but he seems to play harder when he has to compete with a sniper on his line. Datsyuk and flip will be fine, he is a magician and that line will get lots of goals, you can expect between 75-100 goals this season between those lines

Season is short, so every chemistry build worth its playerweight in gold. And if those Lines produce like yesterday why should you break them ?

You shouldn't which is why I said at this point there is no way you split them up.

However I still believe in the long run the balance on the two lines would be better if Flip and Brunner switched places

Why even discuss switching Filp and stunner after our top two lines produced like they did yesterday(and against minny for that matter)? The past couple weeks all we've been complaining about is lack of scoring and to me/at least for now.. It looks like we found some good scoring from our top two line combos. (And against a pretty damn good goalie too.)

Also, I agree that putting mule up with B & Z is making him play harder.. I like that.

For what it's worth, I thought Ericsson looked alright last night. Big body leaning on guys and except for 1 or 2 jumps up into the play on scoring chances he did just fine staying home. He did well on the 5-3 PK too. My favorite was when he pushed Morrow down in front of the net after the whistle when Morrow was jabbing at Jimmy with the puck in his glove. Just be large around our net Big E!
