2/2 GDT : Red Wings 2 at Blue Jackets 4

We have some talent in Grand Rapids, what needs to be done is for Holland to get off his azz and make some trades (trades that DONT bring back former Wings) we have young players that are to valuable to just release but not getting any quality ice time and 2 young ones ready for the NHL NOW in GR (Nyquist-Tatar).

Young D-Men like Lashoff and B.Smith look very good, others like Kindle are not very impressive and K.Quincy looks like a major bust after letting him go on Waivers to keep Chelios in his last season, then trading a 1st round pick to get him back---OUCH!! he is playing like someone who should have been had for a 4th round pick!

Trade bait: Kindle, Cleary, Emmerton, Mursak, Abdlekader, we can package some of these guys to get a very good D-man like Bouwmeester from the Flames, he can be had because of his cap hit $6 mil and Flames slumping again this year.

That trade bait has zero points and one player on IR so far this season. That isn't getting you anything, let alone a top pairing d-man with an inflated contract. There's just absolutely no value in any of the guys you listed. The Red Wings don't have many assets to make a trade.

I wouldn't say that, Smith, Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan, Ferraro, Jarnkrok, Lashoff all have some value and would provide a very good player in return.

It's just the deal would have to involve a young player the Wings get in return, because we have to take a look for the long term, and mortaging the future to get a player that keeps us a playoff team for a year or two, and then leaves us would be a worst situation then hoarding, developing talent and trying for free agents.

You should be banned from ever using adjectives on this board again.

Sorry for the typo I meant great*

f*** it. Let's trade everybody for goons. 2 decades of victorious dominance followed by 2 decades of penalized dominance. Let's give the rest of the league a whole new reason to hate us.

Sadly, there aren't many pure goons left in NHL hockey.

Something you deemed impossible or at least unlikely several times, didn't you? ;)

Unlikely, yes. But Brunner could still play more solid defensively. He's improved, but apparently that went along with a decrease in his offensive appetite. If I could choose, I'd rather want to seem him just being a sniper, other than being a under-average-defensive-forward. Who doesn't. He'll have to find the right balance.

Bottom six has to start scoring for us to be successful this season. Almost 10 games in and we have 1 point from our bottom six. Pathetic.

This illustrates the fact that we have become too reliant on plugs. I hate to sound like I am part of the negative parade, but Cleary is like Scott Gomez out there. It sucks to bench a guy who is trying hard, but Babcock needs to be realistic.

Out bottom 6 lacks an identity, and this team doesn't have lines. It's a problem. For six spots on the bottom two lines we have:

Cleary, Helm, Abdelkader, Miller, Eaves, Tootoo, Emmerton, Nyquist, Sammy. Most play similar styles. Get rid of Cleary and Emmerton, drop one of Miller or Eaves (I hate to say it, its nothing against them, but they've always been similar on what they bring to the team) and bring in a faceoff specialist.

And Babcock is pretty bad at assembling lines. Datsyuk and Bertuzzi should never be separated, neither should Franzen and Zetterberg. Those lines are tge closest to having a reliable identity.

Flip is a goner, I think. He nets us a decent return. Not ideal, but he's the only roster player we have who anyone might want and who we could find a way to survive without.

They won't trade Flip. He's one of the hardest working players on the team. He's also our 3rd best forward. Trading him, especially for the cap hit he is would be a bad idea. We need more offense, and I doubt we'll get more back from a trade then what we'll lose.

Playing the 2nd half of a back to back on the road, away to the BJs is just about as perfect as it gets (famous last words no doubt)

Famous last words indeed. Ladies and gentleman, welcome to your 2013 Detroit Bi-polars!

Interesting quote from Howard Their second goal was absolute garbage. Is he blaming himself for it, or throwing Kronwall under the bus?

EDIT: Nevermind, found a more complete quote on Mlive, Howard totally blaming himself

“Awful, with a capital A,'' Howard said of his performance. “Just wasn't

there. I just didn't feel comfortable. Second goal was absolute

garbage. It took the wind completely out of our sails.''

I don't understand the panic mode here in the last few pages. Trade everyone? Fire everyone?

We're still in a playoff spot. We lost on the 2nd night of a back to back, whatever.

What sucks the most is that Smith was injured. It's getting quite ridiculous the way our guys can't stay healthy.

Even in transistion years losing against Columbus - with no offense, firpowr at all is just unacceptable. These two points could really hurt the team in the end.

Divisionwise there will not be a better chance to win back to back games. Now with Gustavsson, Howard and Smith a small move has to be done.
