e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) Move is cap-related Isles needed to be over the floor by tomorrow, needed insurance against not being cap compliant the entire season. Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) February 7, 2013 EDIT: Wow embedding twitter posts is odd. Edited February 7, 2013 by e_prime
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 To get to the cap floor, Isles acquire Tim Thomas for conditional 2nd rounder in 2014 or 2015. Arthur Staple@StapeNewsday Reports out there are correct: #Isles have acquired G Tim Thomas for a conditional 2nd-rounder in either 2014 or 2015. Pierre LeBrun@Real_ESPNLeBrun Just so people are clear, Tim Thomas still doesn't plan on playing this season. This a cap move by the Isles. Pierre LeBrun@Real_ESPNLeBrun The question is, would theIslanders want to ``toll'' Thomas' contract for next season? Don't know that... that would be interesting If there's a record for most money spent on goalies who don't play, it must be owned by the Islanders. 2 Nev and BigWillieStyle reacted to this
puckbags 863 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 Thomas might not want to play ever again now that he's stuck on the Isle. 1 Wingzman91 reacted to this
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 Thomas might not want to play ever again now that he's stuck on the Isle. Technically his contract ends this season but as Lebrun points out, they may try and toll it. Then things get interesting. It could be Nabokov all over again. shoobiedoobin 138 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 This team just makes the league look bad. Poor ownership, poor management, everything. So go ahead and toll it, make him play for you. That'll make you look appealing to nobody ever.

Well he was suspended by the Bruins for not reporting and I think is somewhere in Colorado. He may not even be aware he was traded. Bill Daly's take on the trade. Pierre LeBrun@Real_ESPNLeBrun NHL's view on Thomas trade, from Bill Daly: ``As long as a Player has an active contract that he has the right to return to absent unusual circumstances, our view is that he remains a "hockey asset" that a Club has a right to trade or acquire.'' You make it sound like he was suspended on bad terms. The GM and coach and everyone knew he was not playing this season, because he had family issues, and they understood that. They had to suspend him as to not have to pay him
kipwinger 8,524 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 Somewhere in Colorado a bearded Tim Thomas wanders the mountain tops looking for the bedraggled corpse of the Norman Rockwell America that he so fondly speaks of. Little does he know that when he eventually returns to hockey, and he will (they all do), he's heading to Brooklyn NY. I hope you find what you're looking for soon Timmy, because I have a feeling all the Bohemians, Democrats, Gays, and independent women in Brooklyn are going to be a test of faith that even you will struggle with. 3 Wingzman91, redwingmachine and BigWillieStyle reacted to this
