Well it's hard to see what Thomas looks like when your head has been firmly planted up Sidney Crosby's ass for years!

Maybe the B's traded Thomas to the Isles cause he bailed on them this year and they know the Isles will try to keep him a la Nabokov if he doesn't play at least 1 game and then the Bruins can laugh as Thomas has to burn another year with the Isles. 7-1-1 with Rask....Thomas' services are not required in Boston any longer.
Wings need some Ryan Pulock in the 1st round, a goal scorer in the 2nd round and rounds 3-7 all guys 6'4 or bigger. Please sign Dekeyser to play with Smith. <--Dekeyser signed, Paired next year. Mark your calendars.
Tootoo needs a partner in crime that plays like him on the other side of Helm. Oh hey, we have Mitchell Callahan. Problem solved.

Well this one of those trades, where its hard to see the value for either side.
If Rask is getting hurt the Bruins are screwed
If Thomas never suits up for the Isles they are screwed

How so? The Isles don't have to pay a dime if he doesn't play this year

ESPN nose hockey. Pierre Lebrun should get away from there in the middle of the night...ASAP.
As for Thomas, it's from the penthouse to the outhouse. He definitely won't be leaving his bunker.

The Isles are a very poorly run team. It's really embarrassing. Their ownership clearly has no desire to field a competent team. They must have some sweetheart deal worked out where they can spin a profit off of this failure with Brooklyn. Put as little money as possible, just to get to the cap floor, put no thought into the signings, sit back and cash the checks until you need to get to the floor again.
I would be furious if I were the Islanders fan.

Here's a stupid question:
Thomas is taking a leave of absence this season. How in the world does he get paid?

He doesn't because the team suspends him for not playing, but his contract still counts against the cap. Perfect for the Isles because they don't have to pay him, but still get to the cap floor.

Really factual account of this trade (?) on ESPEN site. Basically an accounting move for both teams. Due to his 35+ contract his salary counts whether he plays or not. Gets the Isles off the Floor and gives Bruins some Cap relief.
Life is short..........so get on with it

Timmah goes to a team that no one seems to want to go to. Hope he keeps that opinion to himself if that's the case.
Nabby certainly didn't.

Sorry if this sounds stupid....the Isles have done the trade in order to get to the capfloor = + 5 million right? So I guess they have to pay him otherwhise why should this contract count against the cap? Or is this just a new "punishment" rule?
Gotta feel sorry for the Islefans their ownership is an absolute trainwreck and couldn't care less about the roster. It is really sad to see all these young talents wasting their best years for Charles the nickle and dime king Wangfu.
