Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Per Arthur Staple, Isles reporter for Newsday... Isles will place Rick DiPietro on waivers at noon. Intent is to send DiPietro to Bridgeport. Kevin Poulin to be recalled once DiPietro clears. #Isles First person to say "Make it happen, Kenny" will be forced to wear an "I'm an idiot" sandwich board in their town's busiest street corner for 3 straight days. And I can't resist bringing up the past. Anyone remember with Brent Johnson from a few seasons back? 2 thegerkin and Z Winged Dangler reacted to this

wingedominance13 112 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Claim him and send him to gr. just because I'm still mad they stole Nabokov. Add him to our trade for a solid defenseman. 1 Rick D reacted to this
Ram 240 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 lol, they should put their whole team on waivers Yes they should. Minus Moulson and Tavares 1 kylee reacted to this
DSM 114 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 In reality, they probably did it to give him some playing time in the AHL since he has barely played the past few season. Obviously no one is going to claim him, so waivers were small potatoes.

ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 They are paying Thomas and DiPietro not to play in the NHL. Brilliant. And here I thought we went through another lockout in part because the owners needed to shut down salary cap manipulation. Silly me...
Guest Playmaker Report post Posted February 22, 2013 They are paying Thomas and DiPietro not to play in the NHL. Brilliant. They aren't paying Thomas...he's voluntarily sitting out the season and thus does not have to be paid...I think he's technically suspended, so they are paying him only on paper (to increase their cap hit)... Rick 42 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 $4,500,000 per year. @KatieStrangESPN Per rules of the new CBA, DiPietro still carries cap hit of (pro-rated) $3.6mil ($4.5m minus $900k) even if he stays in Bridgeport 1 DSM reacted to this
