Din758 371 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Why are they making room right now? And if theyre trying to get rid of him does he not have trade value? even for picks? maybe they are just hoping he makes it back to GR.
evilzyme 769 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Zero chance he passes waivers, atleast in my opinion. Someone is going to want his speed, and potential.
DSM 114 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Why are they making room right now? And if theyre trying to get rid of him does he not have trade value? even for picks? maybe they are just hoping he makes it back to GR. Wouldn't surprise me. Most teams have an abundance of players that can play on their 3rd/4th lines. What would you pay for a small injury prone 3rd/4th line winger in a trade? Plus, teams knew Detroit was going to have to waive someone anyway.
rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 They are making room, but for who? Is Helm coming back anytime soon? I can't even remember who all is injured at this point. Sammy, Bert, Helm? Seems like Tatar is going to keep a spot.
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Shame this guy got so unlucky with injuries these past couple of seasons, always loved his speed and energy during the call ups a few seasons ago, but because of injuries/full lineups he never really got the shot he deserved. Best of luck to him, I'd love for him to clear and play in GR, but if not I hope an NHL team takes a real shot at him.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) Is Franzen on IR? He's the only forward I think that is close to coming back from what I've seen. Maybe a permanent spot for Nyquist? Or haven't we haven't hit overripe there yet? Edited February 22, 2013 by GoWings1905

wingedominance13 112 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 2 points. 1) This is absolutely absurd. Why not send down Joakim 2) unless this means we are bringing up nyquist or someone else to fill out the top
DSM 114 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 He will get picked up, and were going to regret this How? The kid was a 4th line player on a team with a handful of guys that can better contribute on that line. Plus, the guy made no impact on the team anywhere except the injured reserve and has been passed on the depth chart by Emmerton, Tatar, Andersson and Nyquist. chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 No way he clears waivers. I'm not sure I understand this move. They could send Tartar or Anderson down without having to clear wiavers both have been good but aren't going to be here when everyone gets healthy. We still have lots of forwards out so room shouldn't be an issue. What is this all about?

Or haven't we haven't hit overripe there yet? Oh yeah, kind of forgot about mule...I don't think gus is getting a spot, we have too many forwards, we knew this would happen when we got healthy. I think this is more or less because Tatar earned a spot on the team, or we would have sent him back to GR. And Mursak was at his make or break point. Of course this means he's gonna tear it up against us with some other team assuming he gets claimed; which I think he will.
kylee 727 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 I don't understand why we send him down of all people? Wasn't this supposed to be his year to prove he has a spot or not? Calling it now, Tampa Bay claims him...
DSM 114 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Maybe Holland was just taking care of business early. With everyone healthy, he was going to have move someone anyway. I'm guessing 1/2 guys are coming off IR and the team wants to keep Tatar in the line up longer. I don't understand why we send him down of all people? Wasn't this supposed to be his year to prove he has a spot or not? Calling it now, Tampa Bay claims him... No, that was supposed to be last season.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Great speed, but too soft. Avoided contact in every game I saw him in this year, not what's needed in a bottom 6 role. I'm sure he'll get picked up by someone, hope he has some success if he can stay healthy.

dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 I like his speed and the potential is there, but I'm really not sure he'll ever become a good NHL player. He simply hasn't been strong enough on the puck from what I've seen. He's gotten some chances but never impressed. Doubt he'll clear waivers but I don't think anyone would have traded anything more than say, a conditional 7th for him. Wonder if an injured team like Ottawa will take a chance on him. 1 puckbags reacted to this

With his size and lack of physical play, he's going to have to produce if he hopes to stick at NHL level for a long time.

rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 LOL I've heard several people on LGW calling for a "house cleaning" and on top of guys like Cleary, Sammy, Kindl, Quincey, etc, I heard Mursak's name too. Basically, dump the garbage and play the guys who deserve to play. Now they waive him, and people are losing their minds and suggesting that the team should keep Mursak and send Andersson or Tatar down because they are waiver exempt? Both these guys are better than Mursak. I think it's a good sign that they keeping A & T up and in the line-up. I think it's a good thing that this team isn't factoring in minor league waiver options when putting their line-up together. Yada yada yada. PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) How can most of you not see the obvious? He's not a top 6 guy on ANY NHL team and is not built for grinding and mucking it up on the 3rd/4th lines. There's more viable options in GR right now like Sheahan. Dude is born to be a 3rd liner. Hoping Sheahan gets called up now. Edited February 22, 2013 by PROBIE4PREZ 1 esteef reacted to this
Wingsfan72 198 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 What a horrible decision. The guy might have had some really crappy luck with injuries, but he JUST got back and there is so much potential with him. How do we have enough players to afford to throw one away?? I have not been this disappointed with Holland in a long time - with the exception of him resigning Sammy. If he gets claimed, and he will, Wings are going to regret it immensely. This had better be an indication of some trades coming very soon. Ugh.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 Mursak may be a useful 12/13th NHL player on some teams but Andersson, Tatar and Nyquist are all more useful to the Wings. It's time to give Mursak a chance to stick somewhere else. I do find it comical that over the last 3 years people have complained that the young guys weren't being given a fair shake with regards to sticking with the big club and now that Holland is clearly giving priority to Andersson and Tatar over Eaves, Mursak et al it's the opposite argument. Here's the long and the short of it: Eaves is an NHL vet who can contribute and he's sitting in the press box every other game while Tatar and Andersson are being given secure spots and all the encouragement they can ask for. Nyquist was given shots to push those guys out of the spotlight but each time Tatar managed to shine brighter. Now I do think Nyquist has the potential be be a very, very good player but right now he appears to be in a bit of a slump and can't force his way onto the team when he gets called up. I really hope Gus puts it all together and sticks with the team next call-up because he's one of my favourite prospects.
