Sounds like the price will be high if he moves. The Flyers apparently want Shattenkirk in return from the Blues.

I'm sure Philly would love to move him and his cap hit, seeing that they are right up against the lowered cap going into next season.

Briere answered these rumors pretty emphatically. He has no intention of going anywhere anytime soon. Besides, we don't have the assets to acquire him. We'd need to blow Philly away with an offer. And with Paul Holmgren, blowing them away begins with at least two roster players and draft picks. He wants a huge return for an aging asset. Not worth it. Briere's not the player he used to be. He could definitely help, but the price is just too high.

Exactly. If Holmgren wants Shattenkirk from the Blues, Helm and Smith would have to be mandatory parts of the deal for Philly to even consider dealing Briere to the Wings.

Shattenkirk is having a great season and has a pretty bright future ahead of him. I really don't see the Blues giving up a young player of his caliber for Briere, that's a pretty steep asking price.

We would have to give up a bit too much if we were to make an offer, and Donohue made a great point about him being a single dad and pulling his 3 kids out of school in the middle of the year to pick up and move to another state. I'd think that would be among his reasons for both wanting a NTC on his contract and being unwilling to waive it at this point.
