Not sure if I would replace Cleary... he may not be a great player but he does have a role and plays it well. Couldn't come up with anything better though, seeing as we have so many forwards out there. Helm easily beats abdelkader, Bert is Andersson's replacement for sure. I prefer Eaves over Sammy at this point and Coliacovo hasn't shown anything so rotate him in and out I guess?

Helm is the only one of that group that, to me, the team would really miss. I'm not a Filppula fan and feel he could be replaced. The others are too young to know for sure, older broken down guys or very replaceable.

Cleary took a lot of crap because he was getting top 6 minutes. He's clearly past his prime but he does serve a purpose on the powerplay. He should be playing a role similar to Holmstrom did his last years. Fourth line minutes, PP specialist. I don't think most of us would have a problem with him then. That fits his style of play now better than trying to turn him into a scoring forward.

Helm's not going to take Abby's spot, he's going to go 3rd line center like he's supposed to, kick abby to the 4th line center like he's supposed to, and emdog will be healthy scratching it. in reality, it's helm / emmerton, because emmerton will never bump abby out of his center position, nor will he bump helmer out of his. filp against cleary? cleary isn't going to bump filp out of his top 6 position, cleary is fitting in for the miss of bert ontop of filp now. If filp was healthy, i'd bet pasha would be on the wing because his wrist doesn't seem 100%. bert will take over for andersson, because bert is a top 6 player unlike andersson. he's been playing good for a bottom 6 call up, but he certainly isn't going to push a top 6 player out of the ranks. no questions asked, a healthy sammy is going to be more productive than eaves, as much as I love eaves. our guess is as good as yours when it comes to carlo, we like the 6 we have right now but obviously something needs to happen there, and fast.

Even if healthy, leave Cola on the bench. The D is playign well, and all of those guys are bigger and younger than he is except Kronwall. t forward it is a little more confusing. So many guys with such simliar skill sets. Or lack of skills in some cases. I would stay young. Really the only injuried forwards I miss are Fil and helm. neither of them are goal scorers however. But there is just enough you could put together 3 lines: Abby-Datsyuk-tatar, Andersson-Z-Brunner, and an out of the box thought: helm-Filppula-Franzen, then whatever is left as checkers/4th line. That would be 3 lines all with good checkers, play makers and a shooter on it. Strong defensively as well. Very good overall speed. 4th line then of: eaves-Emmerton-22. gets slow a$$ cleary off of the ice, leaves the old and injuried off the ice, feeds on the youth/speed/skill/with just a touch of grit. If more grit is needed, bring up Sheahan.

I do not agree with the swap outs but in order of importance I would say the #1 need of this team is find someone to play with Pavel. Beacuse of this;

1)Bertuzzi - Trouble here is, I think he is toast, not just for the season but for a career. Those skates will be on a nail soon. See below)

So I take Bert off the list.

1) Fil - He can play the Wing and take the pressure off of Pavel to cover every aspect of play on D and, on those rare occasions when Fil goes to the net, he can pot the puck.

2) Helm - He can spark a 3rd line of Tatar and Andersonn.

3) Sammie - More parts for Pavel and his return provides depth for the bottom 6 (bumping players down a notch).

4) Colo - He is a #7 on this team, and should remain a #7. The 6 out there need to be given time to jell. I like this group. Big, skilled and cap friendly. Basically, (other than RFAs) locked up through next season. AS said by another Colo is a fragile man in a physical game, but he is a good fill in the event of injury (irony) player.

The bigger question is, will the Wings trade UFA to be Howard and let a REAL netminder take his place, you know Gus or maybe pick-up Luongo!!!!. Howard is just average. ;) {just for you Axe. hehehehehe}

Bertuzzi

Injury update

Since injuring his back Feb. 7, forward Todd Bertuzzi hasn't been on the ice and continues to walk gingerly.

There is no timetable for his return.

"(Bertuzzi is) like all the guys we've got injured, nobody is on the horizon anytime soon," Babcock said.

I agree JoesuffP.

Another update. Bert still on a cane.......

BUT...

The Wheel Deal ‏@Bill_Roose
#RedWings have the day off, but not center Darren Helm who is on the ice here at JLA in full gear for the first time in a long time.

Helm is skating.

The Wings will return as follows:

1) Colo (don't kid yourself, he is back already but the team is stringing him along until they figure out what to do with White and Huskins, plus get closer to the deadline to pump up the value. Holland is baiting the hooks now. When Colo hits GR for a conditioning stint, a minor deal will happen. My prediction White is gone.)

2) Fil

3) Sammie

4)Helm

5)Bert (we have all seen Bert return with a bad back, it isn't pretty and it won't last long.)

That may be, but what is White going to get you in return a conditional pick? I can see stringing Colaiacovo along because the guys are gelling nicely, but soon they will be able to expand the rosters and I see them inking Deleyser once school is out...so yes, White is the odd man out, but unless there is a package deal in the works, I can't see White bringing much in return...last season they traded Commie for future considerations and he I not even playing this year, so we may get what, $1 out of him? White MAY get you more than F.C. but I don't how much more. But I guess it would be a favor to him to trade him somewhere he can play and we get that open roster spot and free up his cap hit for the rest of this year...

Next season, Colaiacovo cannot be on this roster....he will need to be a trade for FC or just waived after training camp...sam goes for Bertuzzi and Samuelsson, they need to be bought out. There are too many kids that are ready and already making a niche' for themselves here. Nyquist has 57pts in 54gms in GR, he will be here in October, he should be here now. I fully expect Tatar, Andersson and Lashoff to be here as well in October, with occasional call ups for Sheahan and Ferraro. We just don't have the space for the older, injury prone players anymore...thanks guys, but it time to call it a career...

seriously, this is basically the same thread as 5 others, why do you need to start a new thread to talk about the same things?

Do you know how many of your threads I've come into and complained about one way or another? ZERO. You obviously like my threads, or you wouldn't keep posting in them. It's really interesting that you have the highest posting percentage in threads started by The Axe. Yes, I read the stats. And you post in 92.5% of my threads, and your posts account for 6.3% of the total amount of posts. So if you're so unhappy, why do you keep interacting in my threads? Just ignore me already!!!

Anyways,

I am thinking that Cleary and Abdelkader will stay in the line-up once our injuries heal, but I just posted on what I would like to see. Odds are that Emmerton and Eaves are on the hot seat once we have the 4 forwards we are missing available.

I've created like 3 threads... the same amount you create daily
