Time to pull the trigger on J-Bo?

Im pritty sure we can all agree Detroits D has looked pritty good as of late. Is it due to everyone getting saddled in? Pavs new line mates? Who knows?

Is J-bow what the Wings need to bring them to the next level?

For those of you who dont think he could be a valubale asset, whats your solution?

Solution on D:

Kronner - Big E

Smitty - Q

Laser - Dekeyser

Kindl (Huskins)

No need to waste a trade on big name defender....our D will continue to grow and gel. IF a trade is made it will be for scoring help...

Yeah I dont mind that. What you think about Anton Babchuk? I know hes been hurt but the kid has size and a bomb.

He is a right handed shot as well. There was a lot of talk around here about signing him in 2011 before he re-signed with Calgary. I think the $2.5M he signed for was a bit too much for where he would fit in here that season. (We still had Lidstrom and Stuart) Today that probably wouldn't be too much for him considering our contract with Colaiacovo, but he may be looking for a raise this summer as well. Who knows about a trade for him, stranger things have happened (1st for Q) but if Holland trades a package for a package of Iginla and Babchuk, I wouldn't complain as long as our 1st round pick was left alone, along with our top prospects. So basically, I don't see that trade happening...

Never understood the fascination with Bouwmeester

Me either....I think I'd rather trade for Bogosian if I was going to pay a lot in trade for someone...

I liked watching him in Raleigh. But he is injury prone, and a work in progress, which we have plenty of already.

Count me among those that would rather Bogosian.

I don't have any interest in Bouwmeester at all. He would provide a little offence from the back-end but he would hurt the team defensively.

Dekeyser is an interesting option but even if we sign him he wouldn't be on the roster this season...We have too many defenceman as it is. Maybe after a trade we could fit him in but I don't think we'd even see him as a regular next year.

Danny D would most definitely be a depth signing for this season, getting a few games in and maybe, MAYBE a couple of playoff games....next season though, with what looks like White headed out, even if Kindl re-signs there will be a spot for him because even if Colaiacovo doesn't get waived, he would get hurt and that would allow Danny a spot on the roster. Honestly there is no one else in GR ready to come up, as good as most of our D prospects are, they are all still at their junior clubs or college. Danny is 23 years old tomorrow and is ready to step in to an NHL spot. I hope it's with Detroit.... He can rotate with the ever present #7/#6 Kindl... Besides in two years, depending on what we are paying Howard/Brunner/Filppula/Smith/Andersson/Nyquist and Kindl, we have to re-sign Ericsson, Quincey (probably) and Dastyuk, not to mention players like Sheahan an Ferraro who would likely see some time up here now and then, having a nice EL contract with Dekeyser would provide some much needed cap relief in 2014...

Bogosian would be a wicked pick up! But at what cost?

I agree that Dekeyser could step in this year, and could next year as well, I just think its extremely unlikely given how the Wings handle prospects.

We have 9 defenceman as it is. Kronwall, Ericsson, Quincey, Smith, and Lashoff are all essentially guaranteed their roster spots going forward. Kindl, Huskins, White and Colaiacovo are all battling for the last spot.

Its possible White gets traded but there's a good chance that's as part of a package for another defenceman. The only way Dekeyser would see any time on the Wings this season is due to injury, and even next year I'd imagine the best Dekeyser could hope for is to battle for the #6 spot in camp.

If he lost that battle there is no way they'd waste him in the pressbox as the 7th defenceman, he'd be getting big minutes in Grand Rapids with his former coach.

I agree.

But with Colaiacovo injuries, its unknown when he returns, so have a "black ace" in Dekeyser wouldn't hurt this season. Next season, in order for him to make our roster Colaiacovo would have to be waived. I really don't think White will be back if he makes it through this season. With the turn of events with our D the last week or two, I fully expect Kindl to re-sign. I like Huskins, but I am neither here nor there with him, so essentially, if Dekeyser came in and Colo got booted, he would be the rotating guy with Kindl... If for some reason, White, Huskins and Kindl all leave, then Dekeyser would be a shoe in for a spot...along with trying to find a 7th defenseman.

There's already a big assed thread about Bouwmeester in the rumor section pretty much covering all opinions and whatnot about this guy.

I'm hearing blurbs that Streit might be available around deadline time, that's a rental D i'd take here.

yep. he is

Log jam at D might keep Dekeyser from signing here. Guy hasnt played against pro competition so thinking he would just step in is foolish if even signed.

The whole thing is White, colo, Huskins are all dead weight and hurt the cap. Dekeyster might just be worth the gamble

No need for J Bo. he is very expensive, weak on D but good on O. Just doesn't really upgrade us. Leave our top 6 D alone and sign more depth with dekeyser. We will soon be 12 deep on the blueline. We need forwards that can score, skate, and hit.

I agree need more goals, but its been the style Babs has chosen to play. Who could the wings trade for up front? Dont really have many bargainining chips. Or just wait till the off season?
