luvmnger 125 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 #8 alexander burmistrov C/W winnipeg jets 21yrs.old http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/jets/put-burmi-in-see-if-he-learned-anything-198729831.html 4 games scratched..coaches dog house sooo...the rumors out of winnipeg is either the coach puts him back in play...or he gets traded. from what i found...the coach seems to think hes not playing the system, but doesnt seem to back it up with any real fundamental situations. this could be a chemistry thing...it could be a russian thing... it could be a communication with coach issue. all in all, it doesnt seem to be a playing style, or a laziness. the fans want something done...they see oodles of talent, but are questioning the coach, trying to understand him. winnipeg media is talking...back in the lineup or move him. the coach is wasting time. if i was holland...i'd be pecking on the GM's car window..."whats it gonna take " pavel could use a talented russian winger. could buy more years of dangle in red. what do you think it would take...opinions? toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 He hasn't shown that he's capable of scoring more than 20-30 pts yet. That's not the type of player people make too much of a fuss about if he gets benched. I think the biggest issue is that he was drafted 8th overall, so there are big expectations. kipwinger 8,524 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 He's in the same situation that we have with Nyquist right now. An obviously talented player who just isn't putting it all together yet. What he needs is more development and to be eased into their system. I doubt they trade him, as they're on record as wanting more offense. Just like here in Detroit, you've got the fans screaming for him to play because they like their shiny new toy, and an organization who realizes that all the skill in the world doesn't guarantee success in the NHL if you don't play the right style of game. 1 Z Winged Dangler reacted to this
luvmnger 125 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 We don't need another Leino. in my opinion..he's no leino. i never liked that guy...he always seemed...off. burmi seems to be in the wrong place...not the right type of veteran leadership to counsel him. pav used hull, yzerman, larionov, to hone his skills. i think this kid needs a mentor of the russian kind. these young kids are told their great...and shoved into the limelight to sink or swim. the wings brass know this, thats why the "over ripen" is crucial for the big stage. time in GR then 3/4th line minutes... i think he is going to be very good, with the right upbringing. he is worth the risk to acquire. evilmrt 636 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 don't him and Datsyuk have a connection? Yes, Dats purchased hockey gear for Burmi when he was a kid and his family was too poor to afford it. Burmi has said publicly several times that Dats is his idol.

That's not the type of player people make too much of a fuss about if he gets benched. I think the biggest issue is that he was drafted 8th overall, so there are big expectations. He never even really produced a whole lot in jr. so it was surprising that he was drafted as high as he was. The few times I have seen him play, I have been impressed with his grittiness and he seems to enjoy the physical aspect of the game. I would take a chance on him if he could be had cheap but if he is having trouble with his ice-time with the Jets, he would get even less here.
evilmrt 636 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 The Wings have the one man in the league who can get this kid to fulfill his potential, you guys are really overlooking a huge factor here.
jollymania 162 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 Trade nyquist for burmistrov, burmistrov has just as much skill and is much more physical. Remember Bumistrov came up to the NHL quickly.

This sums it up pretty good. Burmistrov is a lot like Nyquist and the Jets have the same issue we do. They need another scoring winger to complement the playmakers and other top end talent and those young playmakers end up on the sidelines.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted March 26, 2013 He seems like another very talented but lazy player who thinks a bit too highly of himself. Based on what? I honestly don't know much about Burmistrov but haven't read anything of that sort. Sounds like it's lack of production generally and then a lot of speculation as to what exactly the problem is between him and his coach. Plus he's 21 years old and been in the league 2 years. There's plenty of room for the kid to grow.

There's plenty of room for the kid to grow. I have the TSN Jets channel and have watched probably half of the games this year and haven't really heard much during the games from or about him. He's just having a really quiet year offensively, but he is definitely not lazy. Kid hustles his ass off every shift. I'm not sure what Noel is doing with him, but he should at least be on the 3rd line, especially seeing as the Jets are terrible at holding leads. They could use that 2-way forward out there more often in clutch D situations.
luvmnger 125 Report post Posted March 26, 2013 right now, we are in the worst place to be dealing for the playoffs. the western teams dont want us better for competion...the east teams dont want us better for next year. a deal with the jets is a unique one. we are switching sides and wont be rivals. if ever a deal made sense...this should be it. now we just need that passing specialist D-man! 1 Dabura reacted to this
Number19 159 Report post Posted March 27, 2013 The connection with Dats makes this intriging. Former 8th overall @ 21 years old? How much do the Jets value him? Yes, Dats purchased hockey gear for Burmi when he was a kid and his family was too poor to afford it. Burmi has said publicly several times that Dats is his idol. Time to change my answer to Dats in who's the classiest NHLer. What a guy.

Zetts 236 Report post Posted May 23, 2013 Soon to be restricted free agent Alex Burmistrov reportedly does not want to be a Winnipeg Jet anymore. According to a report in the Winnipeg Free Press by Gary Lawless - who is also a drive-time host on TSN 1290 Radio in Winnipeg - two league sources stated that the 21-year-old, who wished to be moved at the trade deadline in March, is standing by that request. When contacted by the Free Press, Burmistrov's agent Mark Gandler didn't have much to say. "The only question I'm going to answer is to say that Alex is not going to sign in the KHL," Gandler stated. Burmistrov, who was a healthy scratch in four straight games in March, has 23 goals and 58 points in 194 career NHL games. From TSN.
