I'm tapping out. I don't think I want to watch the playoffs this year.

Hoping this turns into the Pens version of the Wings 1999 deadline deals that brough Cheli, Ulf Samuelsson, Wendel Clark, & Bill Ranford to town.

I was actually thinking this too.  I think that these trades are great for the Pens, obviously and make sense to do them this year while the East looks really weak and disorganized.  However, Crosby and Malkin are probably two of the NHL's most injury prone players.  Does everyone like the Pens chances if Crosby goes down?  Also, Iginla and Morrow are great, physical scoring additions to the team,  but the Pens lost in the first round last year because they couldn't keep the puck out of their net.  Is Doug Murray going to solve that problem all by himself?  It just takes one team with a hot goalie to derail someone (see 2003 Mighty Ducks).

Wow.  And I like Iginla.  Guess I won't be liking him this year.  Too bad, really.  He's one of those guys I'd have rather seen on a team where I could be kind of glad if he won the Cup, but not really glad since it wasn't the Wings.  Sort of like Hossa winning it with Chicago after coming so close twice.

Maybe next year, Iggy, depending on where you end up.

Money on the board:  Current total: 0

$1 for a goal by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster.  An additional $5 for a series-clinching goal scored by any current Wing after whom I have named a hamster. $5 if the other team fails to score against a current Wing goalie after whom I have named a hamster.

Hamsters I have had:  (current Wings highlighted)

Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

Niklas Matthew Daniel Robert

Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

Andrew Patrick Ian Todd

Jordin Damien Gustav James

Just noticed the shoulder patch ;)

It's still early for me, coffee hasn't kicked in. I thought there'd be a 98% chance I'd be waking up to a Iginla to Boston thread. I can't believe he's a penguin.

So basically, even though the Flames felt Boston was offering a better deal, they went with Pittsburgh's offer because that's where Iginla wanted to go.  A little fuel for the Bruins fire if they meet Iginla and the Pens in the playoffs.

For this team as it is, the trade deadline most likely won't yield any 'bold moves'. We can't be comparing Holland's moves to Shero's moves since the two clubs are vastly different in terms of what they can offer to players. If I'm being honest, this team is at least 2 years and several 'bold moves' from even sniffing the Pens level.

Why make moves when we got MOTHER F'N SAMUELSSON coming back?

Also, Helm is our trade deadline acquisition!

We like our team.

We kick tires.

So... should I expect that Holland might actually do his job this week and sign some people that HELP the team win instead of sit in the press box or at home just being injured and old.

It still would be nice to have that one guy. (Jordin Tootoo, wish granted)

They have to pay Malkin a crap load of money after this season as well.

And Letang.

And Dupuis.

And Murray.

In all likelyhood he'll be a rental.  I could have cheered for Iginla to come out of the east with Boston and go for the Cup, but Pittsburgh...not af****** chance I will cheer for him to even get a point from here on I hate the Pens that much.  The only teams I didn't want Iginla to go to really were the Pens, Canucks and Sharks.  There's no way in hell they can afford to keep him unless he plays for peanuts next year.  I'm not even sure how they can afford him now.  He makes 7 or something like that, Crosby and Malkin both at 8.7, Morrow makes 4 ish I believe, Letang and Fleury make good bank...  I'm going to capgeek to figure out how they're making this work even under the 70.2 cap, let alone how they're gonna keep most of their players when it goes down to 64 mil next year.  Ruined my morning finding this BS out.

This offseason will determine whether Ken Holland should still be employed with the Wings organization.

Please put Smith on the Power Play!

And the players we gunned for were happy we were gunning for them.

Looking at you Luc and Dom ;)

Did Shero also eat a whole wheel of cheese & poop in the refrigerator?  He really is like a tiny Buddha covered in hair.

Money on the Board 2014: $5 per series, $5 per sweep, $5 per Kronwalling, $10 per Marchand Kronwalling, $1 per Zetterberg game, $1 per 2013 Calder Cup roster player goal
