Crosby left the game after puck to the face

Man that sucks, I don't care if people like the guy or not but seeing someone getting lined up by a 99 mp/h blast isn't something I'll be ever cheering for. Had this kind of luck with a "professional boomerrang" when I was younger and even then the blood was coming out like nothing now imagine what a puck can do.

Also in Crosby's case such things could make his conussion return and really thats not something to laugh at. I don't like his attitude although he has gotten better over the years but his talentlevel is through the roof, so get well soon and yes even as a diehard Detroit Red Wings fan I feel wishing him well, is the right thing to do.

this def deserved its own thread.

i kind of predicted this though once they loaded up one of the key guys would get hurt and theyd be back to what they were

They've had Malkin, Letang and Fleury out this season and they are still the best team in the NHL? What do you mean back to what they were?

The well wishes are appreciated, I'm actually pleasantly surprised to see that. There's a number of players in the league that I'm not a fan of but wouldn't want to see them hurt. For me personally I can't get too worked up about what people say about a player but I draw the line at injuries. They're still living, breathing human beings.

From all I've heard his teeth pretty much just got annihilated, the surgery was for his teeth (yes, many "oral" jokes abound) Didn't hear anything about a break in the jaw (that is what worries me most right now) but they would likely want to take precautionary measures with the concussion as well though I am hoping that's not going to be an issue.

The guy may as well just go and make the full turn to heel and just come back with a damn grill, hopefully that's all it will come to.

From their label of stanley cup champions before the playoffs to a top team

Oh, this is a terrible, terrible news.... to those bunch of clueless teenager girls.

but how's that a discussion thread here?!

Because this forum is about talking about the NHL in general.

And the leading scorer in the league, and currently best player of the past 20 years just got hit in the face with a 90 mile per hour slap shot.

Don't really have to read the thread if it doesn't interest you.

That pic just cracked me up! Hope he's not out too long, he's had it rough with head injuries.

That's not what this thread is about, was just answering why this is relevant to this forum.

Here is a interesting list that might be surprising to you. http://www.hockey-reference.com/leaders/points_per_game_career.html

Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss it further.

Good to here it seems like just teeth, a broken jaw could sideline him for a while.

First of all, I hope Crosby is not seriously injured. Secondly you should not mock someone and laugh at them for being injured even if you do not like them, it is disrespectful and rude. That being said, I REALLY don't like crosby,a nd I could care less if he ever plays again, but I honestly feel bad for the guy, he seems to be todays Mario Lemieux

I agree. I can't stand Crosby, but I don't wish this on him. I hope he's alright, but it looks nasty.

Do you think he is better than a 33 year old gretzky that got 130 points in 81 games in 93-94? that list doesn't surprise me, heis a great player, it will go down a bit towards the end of his career, but he is the best in the last 10-15 years, not 20 years.

Considering he's had 159 points in his last 98 games while playing a better two way game? Yes.

I actually think that would make me hate him less. It would give him more personality ;) Especially if he quit whining and acted like a straight up G...

And a lot less net to shoot at.

You can't compare points in the Bettman era to before he became commissioner because the goalie equipment is so much bigger and there is so much less net to shoot at.

call me when he hits 130 points in a full season, let alone hitting 200 points, or when he is anywhere near 1.9 ppg/career...

saying he is better then the great one, is like saying eel is better then a kobe beef steak

I never said that he was better than Gretzky, I said he is playing better than the 93-94 version of Gretzky.

And hopefully he can play a full season, but he's been at a 1.60 pace for the last 3 years. And in today's game that's pretty impressive, is it not?

not saying it isn't impressive, but those are small sample numbers. there is no real way of determining if he would play at that pace over a full 82 game season, and he has never gotten more then 109 points in a season, so he is not the best player in the last 20 years.
