Just thinking about this after reading the J-Bo thread. Will the move to the East possibly make it more appealing/easier for teams in the West to trade with us? They won't have to face us a bunch, so there is potentially less harm there. Not to mention it seems like most of the more recent big name deals (FA or trade) have been a shift from West to East.

Does this play a part in the trade deadline or not?

In a word, no.

I think it puts us in a tough spot this year for trades. west will have to face us in playoffs this year and the east teams will have to play us next year. not that we can't make moves just another obstacle imo.

Maybe, in the sense of getting a little bigger and tougher to play against.

Teams in our division like Toronto and Boston (felt strange writing that) will try to bully our players around.  Kind of like they do against Montreal.

According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

I think it would be stupid, if you obviously can make your team better you should do the trade, doesn't matter if you face the team again in the playoffs or in the conference. Having said that, next year is the time to get an enforcer, otherwhise Boston, Toronto and Buffalo will bully this team around like nothing. I really hope one of the top tough guys will be available (my dream would be Kassian or Stevie Mac).
