unsaddleddonald 357 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 This has been considered before. Buying into it anymore? “If we need forwards, Riley Sheahan deserves a chance, Landon Ferraro, we’ve got Tomas Tatar, Gustav Nyquist, Joakim Andersson, Damien Brunner,..." per Kenny. Uses the word "deserves". Makes me think he wants the young guys up now. Also, Dan Cleary would have been sat by 29 other coaches at some point this year. 1 Z Winged Dangler reacted to this
Carman 387 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 Has 21st worst offensive team in the league and 12 games left in season. Sit team's leading scorer. Babcock wut u doin But about what you've said, we have exhausted our call ups, so there's no way to get all those guys in at the same time.

Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot) 55 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 I really don't buy into all the Dan Cleary hate. What does he need to do? He is a secondary scorer who has been doing just that.
Carman 387 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) Brunner is injured, I believe. Helene St. James reported he wasn't at practice yesterday... Ah ok, just heard it quickly on NHL live, I should probably read before I post things like that eh? haha Plenty of other things I'm confused on this year. Not putting Nyquist or Tatar on top lines when struggling offensively. Keeping Cleary, and Abby together for so long etc. I really don't buy into all the Dan Cleary hate. What does he need to do? He is a secondary scorer who has been doing just that. Secondary scorers have more than .31 PPG there are 278 forwards with higher PPG. He's not producing enough. GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 I really don't buy into all the Dan Cleary hate. What does he need to do? He is a secondary scorer who has been doing just that. Do you not watch the games? Cleary falls down and turns the puck over whenever someone breaths on him. Add in the turnovers due to his brick hands and its just a recipe for disaster. 11 points while playing with the teams top player and getting top 6 minutes is not secondary scoring. Its 3rd/4th line grinder production. This has been considered before. If Kenny wanted them in the lineup they would be in the lineup. Babs controls the lineup but Kenny controls the pool of players that lineup is picked from. 13dangledangle 952 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) I haven't given this much thought, but I'd say based on the Tatar situation alone that it seems likely. Not end of the world disagrements just not eye to eye. Kenny wants Tatar up, ok. Can Tatar play in the top six Babs? No. Cleary and Abby it is then. Behind Enemy Lines in CO 11 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 I believe it has all to do with potential. For the older players (Cleary, Sammy, Bertuzzi, Abby, Miller, Eaves) it is the POTENTIAL to perform at a high level that keeps them IN the lineup. For the young studs it is the POTENTIAL to screw up that keeps them OUT of the lineup. 1 Salviaman reacted to this

I have heard it said that Danny plays the name on his knees many times, the last couple years, but didn't pay a ton of attention. I wasn't as focused on the team last year either. But this year, you know, I started watching more closely again and I've literally been blown away by the absurdity of how true these statements are. Cleary just looks terrible out there. If he's skating, he's skating slow. When he gets the puck, he's usually on his knees in a matter of seconds. It's just uncanny. 1 Z Winged Dangler reacted to this

Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 I really don't buy into all the Dan Cleary hate. What does he need to do? He is a secondary scorer who has been doing just that. He's essentially our Tomas Holmstrom now, but never comes out of the corner with the puck like Homer did. Cleary is terrible with the puck and falls down a lot. All of his goals are from the top of the crease a la Homer where he either tips the puck or taps it in while someone else gets the puck there and he only has a whopping 2 assists cause he can't pass worth a damn. And I'm really sick of watching him take horrible shots from almost the goal line straight bread basket and the same thing from the side boards. 1 Dominator2005 reacted to this
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 Besides some frustrating line combos, Babs has done an exceptional job this season. The Red Wings can't overwhelm teams with skill anymore and Babcock has adjusted to give the team a chance to compete still. His biggest flaw still is his stubbornness, but I don't know how much more he could get out of this group. I think they have overachieved so far, given the losses and tons of injuries. Holland, on the other hand, put together this patchwork roster. I don't want to keep harping on the lack of a plan once Nick retired, but it's pretty clear the Red Wings need an injection of talent very soon to challenge for a championship again. I guess my biggest complaint is the uncertain direction of the franchise. What is this team right now? If it truly is a transitional year, then I disagree with what that should mean compared to what Holland has done. 1 haroldsnepsts reacted to this

I think that Babcock and Holland can communicate adequately. As for Sheahan, he is not ready for the NHL. Ferraro is even less ready than Sheahan is.

Guest Johnz96 Report post Posted April 5, 2013 I think Babcock would take Holland in a fight rather easily. I think he is younger and bigger too
Guest DeGraa55 Report post Posted April 5, 2013 As much as I disagree with babs crappy lineups what do you expect when your choices is crap, crap and more crap? Kenny decides who is one the team not babs(well I'm sure there is communication...but its ultimately kens job).
