NHL.com names babs "top NHL coach"

I agree with this.

Which makes this season so frustrating.

When will Babs:

  1. cut ties with Dan Cleary
  2. punish the Mule for his play
  3. load up on skill on the top lines

Like others have mentioned, if there only was a way to put Cleary's drive and desire into Mule's body....

He's a great coach for sure.

People can complain about him and I don't always understand his moves, but there's not a coach out there I'd clearly want over him.

I'm guessing it won't be a popular opinion here but on that list Bylsma seemed ranked a little low to me.

Look, he baffles me sometimes. But look at how garbage this team is this year, the hodgepodge of lazy floaters and talentless guys with heart we have. Yet we're still in the playoff hunt. I'd say he's the best.

After Michel "Obstruction is French for overmatched" Therien the guy seems like a genius.

jack adams!!

Now that we no longer have a stacked team, he might just have a chance at winning it, but I won't be holding my breath. Worst trophy in the NHL.

Outside of Franzen, nobody floats. Brunner is somewhat weak defensively, but that's certainly not the same thing as floating.

We lack some of the talent from years past, but we have a team that busts their tails. Don't confuse mistakes with being lazy. We have a young team now, which I thought was what people have wanted for the past several years. This is what happens when you have a young team.

Contrary to the belief of those who would believe that imperfect means terrible, yep, Babcock is very possibly the best.

Oh NHL.com, you so silly.

Yeah, because really, what do a bunch of people with numerous years of experience in professional hockey analysis really know?

And yet possibly the best coach of his era will probably never get a Jack Adams award. I think that's one of the reasons Babs is so stubborn about keeping Cleary in the line up. "What do you mean superstar filled roster? I won with Dan friggin' Cleary in my top 6!"

He helped develop Homer into a 30 goal scorer, Hudler into a nice 16 mil contract, Franzen to a 10 year deal, Flip to a 5 mil annual deal, and Kronwall to a 10 year deal. None of these guys would've gotten the same contract if they weren't a Babcock product.
