wingedominance13 112 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 @DRWProspects: RT @georgemalik: It appears that Jake Paterson @JakePaterson57 is headed to GR and Jared Coreau @Rozi3B1rd is heading to Detroit today. Guess Gus is officially a bust. If Coreau ends up seeing net time.
Din758 371 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 ive never even heard of this guy. what happened to mccollum, or mrazek for that matter?
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 Wow. Interseting. Although I'm guessing this has more to do with Detroit's infinite roster space post-trade deadline and the fact that I don't think GR are permitted to carry 4 goalies right now.

Jusek 437 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 I heard rumors that Pulkkinen is heading to Grand Rapids too. They have a Calder Cup team there, interesting times. 4 cupforwings, Z Winged Dangler, Shaman and 1 other reacted to this

It could merely be to accommodate space in GR.
Nightfall 871 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 They have had a Calder Cup team there the last couple seasons, but the past coaching has sucked a big one. The teams as a result have fallen short. Good to see them finally have a coach that can push them hard and have success. 1 Z Winged Dangler reacted to this

DSM 114 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 Interesting, although I doubt it's anything substantial. I think Paterson is just in GR so they can get a good look at him since they didn't have a training camp and because Saginaw is out of the playoffs in the OHL. He'll probably go back to Saginaw for one more year next season. It's doubtful that Coreau is in Detroit to replace Gustavsson. Probably just to give them an extra goalie to practice with for the rest of the season. He is slated to take Pierce's place as #5 since Pierce isn't coming back next season. McCollum will probably re-sign for one more season just to give the Wings some organizational depth before Paterson signs.
Leadzedder 4 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 He didn't magically shoot up the depth chart. He's being greased with a couple weeks of NHL level pay for signing with Detroit.
Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 He didn't magically shoot up the depth chart. He's being greased with a couple weeks of NHL level pay for signing with Detroit. evilzyme 769 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 Is he that 6'5 goalie from college that the Wings signed recently? Yes, he's 6'5 IIRC. per his wings profile he is only 6'1 JAKE PATERSON GOALTENDER - DET NUMBER: 29 HEIGHT: 6' 1" WEIGHT: 176 CATCHES: LEFT BORN: MAY 3, 1994 (AGE 18) BIRTHPLACE: MISSISSAUGA, ON, CANADA He's talking about Cordeu, not Patterson. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 Cordeau will just be helping during practices. Why would they replace Gus with some untested kid going into playoffs? It's illogical. Like others have said, its just musical chairs to satisfy roster rules.
evilmrt 636 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 McCollum will probably re-sign for one more season just to give the Wings some organizational depth before Paterson signs. Wouldn't Cordeau be a replacement for Pearce on the depth chart? Kid is done, he'll be 27 this fall and hasn't amounted to diddly. Let a real prospect start in Toledo...?
