Can someone tell me why Brunner is playing the point on PP?

I have no idea what Babs is doing here but why do we have Damien Brunner playing the point when in fact he is not a sniper, probably one of the weakest players on our team when it comes to shooting (besides Helm) and he is not a good defensive forward. Give me Kindl!

He probably does it because he doesn't see eye-to-eye with you on that bolded part. And neither do I.

Whoops! How about JWill then!

I cringed when I read that. I forgot about that guy. Ugh.

Yeah, there have been some...suboptimal choices in the past. I'd personally put Brunner above all of those guys in terms of choices for the point though. I actually do think it's a decent decision.

I'm going to have to disagree as well. I don't like him on the PP point, but he in my opinion has a fantastic shot

He needs to sit for Tatar

I also disagree with this. Cleary needs to sit, he provides nothing

It'd be fine if they ever set him up to shoot, but he never does, which makes it odd to me too. You'd think he would be better playing roamer similar to what Franzen does in the high slot. Datsyuk or Flip could look for him for one timers.

Kid can't stop shooting at even strength, but when it comes to the PP..

Babcock's theory (proven wrong countless times): forward with a good shot off a cycle from 10 feet out will look great floating that same shot through traffic from 40 feet out, so much so that the ability to actually preserve the cycle or even keep the puck in the zone at the point is unimportant. (see: Jason Williams, Mikael Samuelsson, Jiri Hudler, Damien Brunner...)

Right handed. See Samuelsson, Hudler, White...

esteef

Yeah, that's really all it is. Wings have lacked a legit right handed PP man for years. Even Rafalski, who was a good defenseman and overall offensive player, wasn't a threat to score from back there. He had that low tip-able shot that worked some. They signed White thinking he would just take that role over, but White has even less hockey sense on timing and how to not fire into shinguards all day long.

Because he has one goal in the past 18 games. He's fallen off the face of the Earth. Looking more and more like another Franzen every day. I hope a full offseason helps him.

That's not true. He's at least skating while Franzen isn't.

Zetterberg and Brunner didn't score since they were separated by Babcock. They play completely without confidence since then. Even Z produces only in the PP since then. It's definitely a huge coaching mistake.

I don't even try to figure out why Babs does what Babs does anymore; it makes my head hurt. But the kool-aid drinkers say he's "the best coach in hockey", so who are we no-nothings to question his infinite wisdom.

Same with Holland. I like them both but sometimes they make me wanna scratch my eyes out!

He's weak at shooting? What on earth are you on about?
